Dear diary,
This is my second diary entry of the night-- the first of which being a rant about my huzz in my real, physical diary. I have been facing a problem as of late as to how much time I spend on my screen compared to the real world. My daily screen time is well over five hours and I find that quite depressing although i really do enjoy instagram reels, making pinterest boards and and watching edits on tiktok. I think that screens dont really agree with me physically either because i get the most egregious headaches after ive been on my computer all day and i find that it really drains me. I could never be an office worker.
Anyways, as i was writing in my physical diary i was thinking of the pros and cons of writing there vs here.
PHYSICAL DIARY
pros:
-feels medieval
-connects me with my ancestors
-gives tangible proof of my existence
-much more valuable if i ever become famous
cons:
-takes super long to write
-messy
-kinda fug
DIGITAL DIARY
pros:
-cutesie layout
-don't have to worry about my parents finding it
cons:
-do have to worry about people from my school finding it
-more screentime
-wont last forever
So yeah. idk. I guess as my life becomes more online i think about things like this. What is truly necessary for me to be doing online? This is why, even though i could probably get special exam considerations so that im able to do school tests on my laptop, i never, ever will. I feel that losing the art of handwriting is a vile tragedy equal to the loss of a language. My dad used to have beautiful handwriting but now it looks like chicken scratch because he just types on a computer all day. A love of handwriting was also drilled into me in primary school because we were given fountain pens and i LOVED my fountain pen i mean that thing was my baby.
Im just yapping now but moral of the story: i think i should probably go outside more.
Love,
Maya
