Don't get me wrong!! I prefer to have online friends rather then irls because I have a very bad social anxiety, it's more easy to talk behind a screen ;)
but... MAKING ONLINE FRIENDS IS IMPOSSIBLE NOW!!!
why?
mostly of the people I get to know are:
• dry asf or they are not really interested...
• mean :(
• we only talk one day and then we don't talk anymore lol
• I think people prefer to stick around with their friends instead of having to socialize with other people, an example, roblox games.. when I was a kid, I remember role-playing with a lot of people, random people, but now... people are mean to you, and also roblox games are actually kinda boring? idk maybe nostalgia is blinding me
• idk I think is hard to socialize (help me)
I really want more online friends T_T

Truly!!! I feel like it was way better back when this whole nonchalance b.s. wasn't trending... also people are way more into "growth" and "productivity" now. It's not such a bad thing but i feel like it's promoting people into ending their friendships if their friends are "non-usable". Idk if i made sense but i feel like the obsession with productivity is getting in the way of life these days...

everytime I try to make friends online it’s either a hit or miss, it’s so awkward tryna make a conversation sometimes because it’s either gonna be a small talk or something T_T as soon as they don’t match my energy I just lose interest in them
But in the other hand, you can find some people you feel like they’re the right ones sometimes but mostly in servers in discord instead of those “looking for friends!!” :/

I don't have social anxiety but if you have social anxiety so bad you don't want to talk to people even online I would suggest seeking a therapist

I have a different opinion actually. You said people you met were "dry" but.. I think it's better then forcing yourself to act like a more energetic or interesting or funnier person Idk. I think that acting like yourself is a sign of sincerity. Bcs they don't show theirselves as someone that they actually are not. It's just better imo

I completely get it, bro. It’s so hard to find online friends that actually stay & are actually nice- like a lot of them we talk & then just never talk again. Or they end up being drama. I hate it but at the same time, I still have like 3 I talk to- hopefully ts helps me make more.!!

REALLL. people are not only dry even though they say they want online friends, but it's so hard to find genuine people!! there's so many creepy, toxic, and judgemental folks out there who make having online friends so difficult. I used to make friends so easily, but now I feel scared to talk to others who are actually interesting.
right i love meeting new ppl but when i get their contacts, mostly theyre never the person to reply to msgs or reply dryly but when u meet up, ITS so fun and everything, but i crave for any genuine social interaction bc of how lonely i am ;v; and people ik online, they get busy and i would love to meet up but they live far awayyyy

So I can see a lot of young people here and all I can say is, you're not wrong!
When I was your age (13-18) people were 1000% more talkative and friendly etc.
But even before covid happened, this stopped being the case.
People my age came here and said the same thing, then most became part of the issue lol

you know, i can't really make online friends much, just sometimes, because i ain't that much active and creating a friendship takes time. its something thats, at least for me, very hard to maintain
i agree to this !! friendship is valuable and i tend to be a bit nitpicky at times esp since i can be brutally honest (and sometimes i wont even notice it). it's a matter of interests/personalities that align with one another.

SERIOUSLY!! We talk once and then they ghost me completely like don’t put “I need/want friends” if your not gonna talk when you get one, it sucks like I get it if your busy or whatever but at least say that

No I can really relate 1. People are either rude,crazy,old,or dry like i just wanted to see if we could be friends like its just a yes or no answer. 2.I dont know whats the point i wont see them in real life,like i would like to see my friends in real life but my mom or dad would kill me if i tried to go outside with a stranger,

Omg that's SO true!! I also used to have like a thousand of online friends back in 2019-2020 but now when I try to make a conversation they just randomly ignore me all of sudden and ngl, sometimes it's boring when you're trying hard to socialize and they just dgaf
omg it was easier to make friends during quarantine but now everyone is so busyy 3 and sometimes i meet ppl and get their contacts and we have the best time but when i text them and all its so dry or they are the type of person to not respond to texts

Fr, it was so easy to make friends on Amino in like 2016-2019 and now everything's "corny". I hate it ;-;
cringe culture killed online friends, people nowadays are judgemental or are afraid to be judged that they just stick around trusted friends only
