okay palz, galz, duuudes, anyone :]
i haave ANOTHER Laura gilpin poem... can't you tell she's my favorite poet?! her and Edgar Allen Poe... hehe
I shall keep you no longer!
Death, By Laura Gilpin
-----------------
Time stops.
At last it is quiet enough
for me to go to sleep.
Time starts again,
I go on sleeping.
-----------------
Here, time stopped for one person. Its clear that they have passed, but they seem calm, not taken aback by it. "At last it is quiet enough for me to go to sleep".
Even that time stopped for them, it stopped for no one else, and that is okay with them. They say nothing about the afterlife, what they see, or how they feel about their predicament, not even how they got in it in the first place.
Sleeping is what they do, time moves on and they sleep. It's healing for them, and that's truly all they needed. Sleep.
(little P.S... I'd like to hear anyone's thoughts when I share poems. I NEVER claim to say my views on any poem is true. The whole point of poetry is different views, and i'd LOVE to hear other takes on any poem I post! Please!!!)
