Hey SpaceSleepers (94): So Go Back to the Clewb

I'm in for my one post every season! We're in a post daylight savings world right now (until the second of November)! This has to be one of my favorite times of the year! I know everyone kind of bemoans the annoyance of sleeping an hour less or what have you, but I personally find it reinvigorated to  just have that one extra hour of daylight. I think that George Hudson guy was onto something when he proposed we move the clock back an hour so he could have more time to collect bugs. I just wish we could constantly exist in this post daylight savings time world! I know for a FACT that it actually increases overall happiness to have that extra hour since a lot of seasonal depression is attributed to the lower amount of time of daylight we get. What I'm saying is that everyone is against the spring daylight savings, when they should be against the undoing of it in the autumn. Just food for thought.

Alas that's not just what this lovely periodic blogpost is about. Yesterday I went to this Sapphic Happy Hour event in Brooklyn in hopes of making new friends or perhaps new fun connections and it worked! For the most part! I had found the little affair off of Eventbrite after my dermatologist appointment and I thought to myself, “what the hell, why not,”
considering that when I met my friend later that night, I probably would have to shoot the shit for a while.
Honestly, I arrived literally a minute before the function began so I was able to duck in and get some water, warm up before more people came in. I’ll be honest, even then, everyone was pleasant and had a sort of friendly vibe about them. I’ll be honest when I say I thought I was absolutely going to belly flop into the social pool and totally wayne it, so I was beyond myself in saying I was anxious. Honestly, I ended up following this one girl around for a bit like a baby duckling until I got comfortable and ended up settling next to this girl who was actually around my age and super sweet. We managed to bond over our cultural backgrounds, the fact that we seemed to be the only few people in their early twenties there, and also into a lot of the same media while not having direct overlap. One of the instructors from the previous event ended up coming over and chatting about the class she held on d/s and took turns with me explaining it to my conversational partner who had apparently heard none of it previously.

After she had left however, I remained for a bit and another group from the function settled in the little corner I held myself in. I was about two drinks in at this point (I mean this was a BAR, people drink at these) and I tried to find common ground so I just brought up SpaceHey ironically enough! i managed to all get them to join our silly website so yeahhh new people to chill with here!!
