Should I buy Garry's Mod?

I was thinking about buying and playing Garry's Mod as it looks like Roblox and I used to watch many YouTube gameplay videos about it as a child... what's holding me back is its age, it's a pretty old game and still looks like so

When did you start playing it and for how many hours have you played it? Is the purchase worth it?
