it's the reason i ditched the "reclaiming the internet" group, anyhoo- every day, you get these newbies who saw the site on tiktok and said "wowie gee! this website will singlehandedly solve every problem i have". and so they make an account, copy the first "(interest here)-core" layout they find(usually the scene one at the top with invader zim or the windows xp one), make a blog using l3375p38k talking about how much they love the "0ld cu570m1z8bl3 1n73rn37", leave their spotify, discord, and tiktok in their links, and then leave within the week. and what these newbs do is every single time, they drop by Reclaiming The Internet, make a bulletin/forum about "wh87 d0 Y0U 7h1nk 8b0u7 d38d 1n73rn37 7h30ry???", reply twice, and dip.
now, the theory itself is decently true- there's a lot of bots rehashing content, and since it's profitable, it's gonna happen. but when it's all you talk about, that's not helping very much- just filling the internet with static rehashes of what it already has. why not talk about your day or something? if the draw of the "old internet" is the p3r50n8l17y, why not take the time to make it personal to you- or to do something personal with it? and you don't need to be here every day- hopefully you go outside once in a while- but don't leave a profile on "last online: 2 years ago" if you can help it.
is the rant barely connected? yes. but the theory will always be funny to me because- more than the actual bots and content rehashsers- there's a large subset of people who make the same accounts, post the same posts, and do the same thing before leaving a week later. and they're the ones who post the most about "how dead the internet is these days". but who's more dead?
(this isn't newb hate, but if you're gonna come here from tiktok, pinterest, or wherever, and if you're gonna make an account, and if you're gonna use it to post about dead internet theory, at LEAST make it personal somehow. and don't you give me that sigh.)

As much as I like the theory- I agree that a lot of the dead accounts aren't usually bots like they want you to think. Most of the time it's just everyday people who saw something trendy and decided to get in on the newest then forget about it once it dies out.
I don't think the internet is dying out just from bots and overly corporatized things, but it also comes regular people in general- like the average consumer who gives into things without a second thought.
The same people that mock you for having an interest that isn't trendy, but once that interest becomes trendy they pretend that they've always been about it.

I like to believe that a bunch of necromancy'ed skeletons are posting on the internet rather than a warehouse filled with bots. A "Dead Internet Theory" except the users are actually dead. Jokes aside, I agree with your points however this site is sorta lackluster compared to similar sites of the mid 2000s. The "groups" tab of the site is completely dead and there is no way to view what blogs your friends have commented on. Even the most basic of forums have an activity tab where you can see what your friends are up to, this place is more akin to a microblogging front without it. I see great potential in the more interest based groups but its such a shame they are all dead, moderators should run a campaign or two in order to promote activity there. Unfortunately this site isn't being updated much or actively worked upon, Ive been here for about half a year lurking and I haven't seen the devteam update needed features. This is an interesting site but nothing to clammer about.
This!!
This site has so much potential. I understand it's a pet project, but I wish it would be taken a bit more seriously. It lacks a lot of basic functions, like notifications, tagging people, and group chats. It would be nice to see the creator of the site actually USE the site. Post a bulletin once in a while.

Yeah,in my personal experience I see some bots but most of the time I write comments on YouTube or play some multiplayer games and I still can see there's humans there,so that thing it's not a big deal rn(or at least for me)
And even if that were a problem, you can always turn off the device and try to approach real people in the real life, right?
yeah AI is getting really annoying now, specially with the forced inclusion of it when it is not even that helpful
