I heard they crack heaven from sky to earth, at an instant in space flame up from ground to clouds-- time bombs erasing everything but shadow and cinder. The ground echoes a mob of concentric energy through thin air. In a moment the magic flares again with dazzling glare, a photographer’s bulb captures the white steed galloping across the giant black belly. Two counts later a catastrophic chicken fight as Zeus of torn trees tops and Apollo of scorched grass embrace in a head-on fury kiss, an orgy of golden hair and resonant flesh. The moonless night is the sole witness to oblivion’s white head dress, as children wet their sheets. So be forewarned, oh bodies of carbon, lightning strikes so suddenly you never know you're dead.
