So yesterday I was working off a 30-minute nap cause I stayed up the whole night preparing a presentation (which in the end went a lot better than I thought it would, thankfully), and after my morning lecture was finished I ate lunch and walked back to my community dorm building to try and get some extra sleep in.
Now, the place where I am is jam-packed full of tourists (okay maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration but there were a lot of people), and thus some sellers walking around doing their business. This one guy (who I believe might have been advocating for some cause since he had what appeared to be a bunch of pamphlets tucked under his arm), he was wearing sunglasses so I couldn't see his whole face, but when he noticed me heading in his general direction he started looking really smug, took a step closer to me and said something like "Hey there lady, could I interest you in something for a second?" and I, without stopping, said a firm "no" and walked right past him. His smile faded and he asked almost pitifully "Why?"
I didn't answer him because my mind blanked and I forgot how to say "I'm in a rush" in Italian.
I have a strong feeling I wasn't going to be interested by anything he gave me, I never am with street sellers, but was I a bit too brisk and harsh on him? I felt kind of bad for just saying "no" and basically ignoring him, not giving a reason as to why I didn't want to take him up on his offer.
