"mayhem" is a love letter to pop music

lady gaga really outdid herself with this album. first of all, it is not at all what i was expecting. with disease and abracadabra as singles i really thought she went for a dark pop album, but i should've known better. it is lady gaga we're talking about. the first few songs are what i was hoping for, but killah really caught me off guard. im not gonna lie, i wasn't a fan at first, but now i quite enjoy it. anyway, after listening to it a few times, i now have a formed opinion: mayhem is a love letter to pop music !!! i mean, the inspirations are countless, from prince and michael jackson to taylor swift, she made an incredibly diverse album while making it cohesive at the same time. it goes from the 70's to the 20's flawlessly, showcasing how truly incredible pop music is. there are even influences from other genres such as rock, which i particularly loved. she is such a rockstar. mayhem is incredible from top to bottom, starting with an energetic vibe and ending it in a gorgeous romantic tone. every song is a tribute to different artists while still being very lady gaga. it is beautifully produced, beautifully written and i can only praise this woman for always finding a way to reinvent herself as an artist.
