Dahlia Baker (might change the last name) - Born out of an affair and in the rise of her mother's death was raised by her father and his wife - after a long drawn series of unfortunate events occurring, her father's death being among them, the long story short is she was for a time a ballet performer at the local theatre, but the low pay made the dancers especially suseptable to.. secondary forms of employment - as well as exploitation. After being entangled with a much older "Patron" -- the ..consequence of this entanglement having her on the run and escaping to another city, the year is roughly 1924, no where else to go she takes protection under a rum-running gang/"enterprise" - as she takes up the job as a flapper dancer (she was a ballerina during her teenage years, by the time she's a flapper she's 19-20)

I've been thinking bout a few stage names for her Dahlia Dewdrop or like Dahlia Doozy - Dewdrop would make more sense - and it's kinda a reference to the dewdrop fairy from the nutcracker, a ballet performance so it ties in well
