Huge chunk of writing about erm characters who pretent to be people they are not to some extent. Also chat about my ocs Red and White cos they r good examples andd i love them. I dont think any1 is reading this monster but errr u should anyway cos my ocs r cute and interesting and i lov them right, so, one of my favorite character tropes is when a character hides aspects of themselves, or pretend to be people they’re not. This can range in severity, but no matter how trivial the thing they conceal, it's always peak fiction. Or non-fiction. God that shit hits in real life. If you pretend to be a different person in real life and have distinct layers to yourself which are widely different get in touch. I am an empath and a good listener also 6’ and like really hot. Anyway. Wether a character simply hides that they like certain genres of things that might be completely unexpected, like a serious guy liking really cute things, or they completely remake themselves and are constantly playing a character that is Just Not Them but hey, they have to keep appearances, they need to be liked, they need to be palatable or whatever other excuse or reason for doing this, its always fucking great. I don't know why I like this so much but I do. The scene when a character reveals a certain part of themselves, whether it's the only thing they’re hiding or one of the many aspects of themselves they conceal, is always very potent. To me at least. The idea of letting someone know you. Or them finding out who you are. Its unbelievably intimate, to let someone know what your voice really sounds like, or what you really act like when you’re all alone, or what stuff you really enjoy or whatever. Two of my lovely characters are very clear and obvious examples of this. I think most of my characters are but, The Red Rose and The White Knight are striking. Also I have currently been obsessed with them and how they interact with each other and others and what they think of themselves and what they think of each other and their masks and how they are perfect opposites and how in being perfect opposites they are inextricably intertwined. Also by currently I mean the past year. Or two or three idk i've lost track. But mostly the past year. I'm going to rant about Red and White now. The Red Rose is chivalrous, dramatic and dangerously appealing. The White Knight is like a myth, a whisper of a man that people mutter about, reserved and mildly ignorant. But that is what they seem. They are perfectly aware that this is how people view them. They are so self aware because these are characters they have constructed and that they play, so there are constant thoughts in their minds about how people perceive certain aspects and if they fit with the character or not. This is mostly a trait of Red to be fair, and is less present in White. He does however still present himself as something different than how he really is, just to a less dramatic or constructed degree. But it is still constructed. But see, really, Amaris is an angry man, dramatic sure but also a huge dick who loathes himself and is very easily irritated. Lazarus is annoyingly exaggerative, remembers every detail of anything anyone says to him and is a lot less serious than he seems. to me they are everything. Maybe at some point i’ll write more in depth n specific stuff about them. By maybe i mean i definitely will. Or will i? By some point i mean keep ur eyes peeled but maybe have eyedrops nearby cos it might be a while. Or maybe never i dont really know hehe :-)))) anyway so u have visuals ig heres some drawings of these 2 guys. also no they are not gay for eachother. idk if Red is gonna have that hat. lowk i just cant draw it so uh i probs just wont draw him with it...
