My Trip To Quebec!

Hey everyone! Sorry I haven't blogged in a while, but I have a good reason: I was on a trip to Quebec!!

I know this might not be the most exciting post, but I felt like I needed to write about my trip. If you're planning to visit Quebec anytime soon, I’ve got some awesome restaurant recommendations and cool things you might want to try!

Our trip was 3 nights and 3 days, including all the travel, since we live kind of close.

Day 1: We drove through Ottawa and saw the Parliament Buildings. We also spotted a cute mother and baby deer crossing a frozen river! After that, we took a break for lunch at St-Hubert, which you’ll see is a recurring favorite of ours, especially since we can’t get it where we live. After lunch, we headed to Parc Omega—it was such an amazing experience! We just did the basic driving tour, but we saw so many animals: wild boar, deer, caribou, wolves, moose, silver foxes, red foxes, mountain goats, bison, and my bucket-list animals—the Przewalski’s horses! One of the horses came right up to the fence, so we got to sit there and talk to it for a while. We even witnessed two of them get into a bucking match, running around and making their natural noises—neighing and snorting at me! It was an unforgettable moment, especially because these horses are so rare and might not be around much longer. On top of that magical experience, we also got to pet the bison! A baby female and male bison stuck their heads through our car window and let us pet them. The baby even licked me—who knew bison had black tongues?! We also fed and petted some cute deer and elk. I definitely recommend Parc Omega!

After the park, we drove to Montreal, where we stayed at the lovely Hyatt Centric. The hotel had an awesome view of the St. Lawrence River, the circus wheel, and the bridges. For dinner, we went to L'Usine de Spaghetti, which was delicious! They had a salad bar, complementary bread, and generous portion sizes. I had the chicken parm, which was superb, and we all shared desserts—tiramisu and lemoncello ice cream, which were so good! After dinner, we went back to the hotel for a swim in their outdoor heated rooftop pool. It was -10°C outside, so getting out of the pool was pretty cold, but it was still so much fun before we went to bed.

Day 2: On our second day in Montreal, we had a lovely breakfast at the hotel with a fantastic view of the snow-covered old buildings. After a relaxing morning, we ate at St-Hubert again (it’s a must for my mom!). Then, we continued our journey to Quebec City for an unforgettable experience: ice canoeing! Quebec is the only place in the world where you can do this as a tourist. After gearing up in warm gear, ice spikes, and mittens, we practiced scootering and paddling on land before heading out onto the frozen St. Lawrence River. It was a success—no one got wet, and we didn’t tip the canoe! We even took a break on a moving ice sheet where we could stand on the ice. Afterward, we enjoyed hot chocolate and croquembouche, a French treat. They also had a sauna overlooking the St. Lawrence River, but we were warm enough, so we skipped it. This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and I highly recommend it!

After ice canoeing, we checked into our Hilton hotel with an amazing view of the fort and Parliament Buildings. After a well-needed rest, we walked over to Old Quebec for dinner at La Buche. The restaurant had a true Quebec feel, with sleds on the ceiling, animal heads on the wall, and plaid everywhere. My family started with a cheese plate, and I had the smoked trout and goat cheese salad. We were so full afterward, so we walked back to the hotel and passed out.

Day 3: On our last day, we had breakfast at Le Casse-Crêpe Breton in Old Quebec, where I had a strawberry milkshake and a delicious strawberry and chocolate crepe. After breakfast, we explored the little shops and art galleries in the area. One shop that really stood out was Three Crow Glass Studio, where you can make your own blown-glass heart. There were so many beautiful art pieces, and I wanted them all!

We also went down the famous Ice Hill on a toboggan and I got maple syrup on a stick—a must-try! As a sucker for horses, we spotted a horse-drawn carriage offering tours of the area. We hopped on, and the horse, Mingion, reminded me a lot of my horse, Snow, since he was very curious and kept looking at everything. The tour lasted longer than expected, but at the end, I got to give Mingion a well-deserved carrot and pet him. After the tour, we visited the famous Château Frontenac and looked around the hotel and its shops.

Then, we visited La Basilique-Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Québec, the oldest church in Canada, built in 1647. After that, we stopped for lunch at Bistro 1640, where I had the best burger I’ve ever had! It was perfectly cooked, juicy, and had the perfect combination of ingredients. They also had amazing fries, and I had a refreshing strawberry mocktail. As a bonus, they gave us a free dessert—maple crème brûlée, which was heavenly!

We then wandered around Petit Champlain, which had so many lovely stores. My mom got a new purse, and I got a dream catcher. We also found a sun catcher for our window, and there were so many crystal shops that I went a little crazy! After all that shopping, we returned to the hotel for another swim in the outdoor heated pool before heading to Le Lapin Sauté for dinner. They serve rabbit, but I opted for walleye, and it was delicious! For dessert, we had apple and wild blueberry crumble, and chocolate truffle balls with tea.

After dinner, we walked back to our hotel for the last time and went to bed, marking the end of an unforgettable trip to Quebec!

I definitely recommend all of the places I went to on this trip!
