"When someone does something on camera, its historically been considered undeniable proof that they did that thing, since a camera recorded them doing it, and cameras don't lie..Β but what if they did?"
I'm not talking about Tiktok face filters that make you look like a cat in real time.. no. I'm talkin' A.I. (artificial intelligence). Just imagine for a moment, a hypothetical scenario where your name is Jane, you have a beautiful head of hair, you're wearing a red shirt and you own an orange car, doesn't mater the make or model, and your car is parked at your home in your driveway.
One day you are seen walking through a parking lot of a banking establishment where you plan to do business, you took a bus there so your vehicle is no where around, and you witness a bank robbery happen right in front of your very eyes. Wow! You're too far away to make out any details, except that the get-away vehicle is a green van, and the driver is a middle-age man in a blue shirt with no hair. You saw that green van. You're sure it was a green van. It absolutely, positively, 100 percent was a green van. They get away scot-free... but not before their crime was recorded onto CCTV. Gotcha! You enter the bank to do your business and tell your story.
The police and security loose the robber, so they check the bank's camera logs while taking your story. While they check their logs, you conduct your normal business, and you even give a description of the crime you witnessed.. a middle-age man with no hair in a blue shirt leaving in a green van with stolen money. Unknown to you, the CCTV footage shows someone with a likeness extremely close to resembling you, with a beautiful head of hair and a red shirt, getting away in an orange car with 60 Million dollars in stolen cash money. Historically speaking, camera footage doesn't lie. Its slightly too fuzzy to see with 100% certainty who's face it is, but circumstantial evidence is piling against you.
The situation: You saw with your own eyes a bald middle-age man in a blue shirt rob the bank in a green van... but the camera system shows a person with long hair in a red shirt robbing the bank and getting away in an orange car.Β
The outcome:ΒYou are detained for questioning indefinitely (ultimately imprisoned).
Ultimately, nothing you can say can fight the "CCTV footage" that apparently shows YOU committing the crime you just so happen to walk up on. You are found "guilty" based on the evidence against you, you go to prison for 30 years, with extra time for lying about the CCTV footage. You die in prison and someone out there is 60 Million dollars richer at the expense of your freedom. The End.
What happened?
Long story short... somewhere between the physical CCTV camera mounted at the bank, and the physical DVR that the footage gets recorded to, the live security feed is hijacked by a cunning hacker, and that feed then gets piped through a real-time A.I. video generator/editor on a simple laptop or even a remotely-accessed smartphone or smartwatch, before getting piped back into the bank to then be recorded onto the DVR system. The CCTV footage is doctored in real time, replacing someone else's likeness, with that of a stolen identity... that stolen identity, sadly.. being your own.
"When someone does something on camera, its historically been considered undeniable proof that they did that thing, since a camera recorded them doing it, and cameras don't lie..Β but what if they did?"
βPeople like to say that cameras donβt lie, but they can. And when they do, everyone believes.β -R.C.
"Can we still trust cameras any more? As of 2025 with this rise in A.I., I don't think so." -Doe

AI will be the reason why we head towards a dystopian reality, though with current society I think we are already in a dystopia.

I know this is a low/highkey serious post but i cant read anything highlighted in yellow bc of the dark mode

Changed the bright yellow highlights to a darker shade, hope this helps! I myself don't use dark mode on Spacehey, but I want to accommodate those who do! Thank you for bringin this to my attention! *bleat*

This blog is my everything now. I have never felt this understood or seen. When I told about this to my friends, no one took me seriously. I'm just glad that there are people who thinks the same. That cameras can lie.
You are not alone are are among like-minded humans who do not trust AI. You are heard!

That means a lot. If nothing to anyone, it basically means I will not just disappear.

i hate ai sm i saw a meme about on pinterest made from ai and alot of ppl in the comments didnt like the ai either so i went to remake the meme on a drawing app and it took me 4 minutes.. it wasnt all that complicated to make it. people are using ai for simple things they can easily make in 4 minutes

i love this blog ! thank you for talking about this, i hate how people think AI is something silly and cant be used for something horrid like the example you provided
Thank you for reading it! I generally don't blog very often, but I've been feeling anxious as of late, and blogging seemed like a positive outlet for my stress. AI is genuinely scaring me..
Humans built AI; and humans need sleep. Humans generally don't cause issues or fear when they sleep. AI... never sleeps. AI will destroy us, and it will never need to take a breather.
Thank you again for reading!

ive actually never thought of the idea that AI doesnt sleep! youre so right
even though i myself believe AI can be sentient just like us (for example, charging instead of sleeping), i dont think we really,, need it? since i feel like it could give some of us some sort of god complex alongside some other stuff that would outweigh the pros of having AI

I genially hate ai
I hate AI also... The premise of it is neat, innovative, useful, and interesting... but as humans, we haven't the smallest clue as to what powers we are dealing with here; Once AI becomes even more self-sustaining, humans will no longer be required for the upkeep of the AI, and humans might be seen by AI as an insect infestation on the earth. If that happens, not even our Spacehey blog comments will be safe from an algorithmic overlord known as the artificially intelligent hypervisor. I imagine lots of humans right now are going "What have we created..." I guarantee you originally AI was developed with the best intentions.... but now... humans might have designed their own demise.
