school field trip to athens!

so on the 6th i went on a school field trip to athens. why am i writing on the 12th? cuz it took a toll on me. my body hates bus rides. anyways!

1st day: 

my class was gathered at the village's main square w suitcases. the bus was late. tbh i enjoyed the ride. i watched another episode of rose of versailles. most kids were on their phones, talking to their friends or just chilling. we had a stop near patras to refuel and eat. i had a sandwich and peanut butter cups! love them but ive only had them twice in my life. peanut butter isnt rly popular in my area. i also bought an ultra blue monster but tried it home. i also made a tiktok which somehow got over 10k views and 1k likes, awesome! also we almost got ran over by a truck cuz the bus driver drove on a red light.

we reached athens at noon (athens is like 4 hours away). the teachers allowed us to wander around. i went to a public store (public is the name of a store brand in greece, they sell electronic stuff, books and toys) and got my second ever manga, soichi by junji ito! right next to that store was a starbucks and i got an iced lavender matcha latte. first ever time i got starbucks. tbh not a big fan of matcha, tasted like grass. but the lavender part was awesome. i walked some more and checked out some stores. i even got a rly long pearl necklace. later, i went to a mcdonalds to eat. first time ever eating at mcdonalds and im 15 lol. so i got a cheeseburger and an oreo mcflurry. the cheeseburger was rly small and the ketchup rly sweet. but i liked the mcflurry. then all the kids went to the bus pick up place but the bus was running late. 

the next stop was our hotel. it was on a street in athens famous for having a ton of strip clubs and brothels lol. there was one literally next to our hotel. tho dudes stripped there. the hotel was small but tall and my room was on the 3rd floor so i had to get up the stairs cuz the elevator allowed only 2 ppl. i shared a room w 2 other girls. the room fit us, barely tho. we ordered food. i ordered food through an app for the first time, i got gyoza and bao buns w chicken. the gyoza was rly nice, would def eat it again. the bao buns were nice too but i think they gave me food poisoning. worth it.

then we went to the planetarium. never been to one. tbh wont go there again. it was packed w kids from other schools and we had to stand for very long. anyways we were taken inside a room w a dome ceiling. my class got the top row. u basically had to tilt back ur head and spend the whole time looking upwards. we saw a documentary abt the solar system. it was interesting but too loud and my neck hurt. i came out of there ready to throw up. in the gift shop, there were some of the weirdest toys ive ever seen. tho i saw glow in the dark stars u stick on ur walls and kinda want them. didnt buy anything but from what i heard the merch was rly expensive.

after, we went out to eat at a restaurant. i had a rly bad stomachache so i didnt eat anything. i went to the bathroom and that helped a little, yay. i came back and decided to spend my time on youtube. i learnt abt wood river nuclear accident, rly cool. strange to learn abt someone worse off than ouchi. anyways, some kids wanted to go to a corner store and i followed them. i would leave the corner store if i didnt see toxic waste candy next to the cashier. i got a barrel, tried one on the bus going back to the hotel. think it cauterized my tooth extraction wound cuz it hurt like hell before. 

i showered at the hotel. if u can call it that, i couldnt figure out how to use the shower and just cupped the water from the faucet and threw it on myself. yea it was an experience. we slept late and decided to wake up at 5:30 am. 

2nd day:

so the girl who put on the alarms for us woke up rly early but didnt shut them. we woke up, got dressed and went to have breakfast. tho only us and the principal were awake. so, i had a piece of cheesecake, a mini croissant, a small chocolate pastry and a cheese breadstick. the cheesecake was amazing tbh. the croissant was nice. the pastry was rly dry and didnt have much chocolate. the breadstick was rly thin. but still good. lacked some flavor tho. oh and i also got some hot chocolate, tasted like nothing. 

we left and the bus almost broke down mid destination. it leaked a ton of water. our destination was a nuclear physics research center. yall dont know how happy i was to go there. so to enter the area the bus driver rotated the bus mid street and left to go to a mechanic. the tour began w showing us a particle accelarator! it was rly hot in there. the guide explained to us how everything there worked but the accelarator was rly loud so we didnt hear much. we saw other machinery too. also i swear to god ive never seen so many radiation signs in my life. we went to eat, i got a chicken sandwich and a piece of red velvet. was nice. then they took us for a presentation abt nuclear energy. we learnt abt energy in general, atoms, reactors, chernobyl ofc and fusion. rly fun. tbh i knew almost all of it other than what tokamak stands for and abt future hopes for fusion reactors. then we played a game where they asked us questions. i was the leader of my team, we won! the bus wasnt ready yet so we spent an hour in front of the canteen. 

after that they took us to a mall. i preface this by saying that i hate loud spaces and escalators. especially escalators. the mall had two floors for clothes, makeup, accessories etc, one for food and the other was an ikea. i walked around a lot. i got a skirt and two belts. as a goth, i didnt have much to be tempted by. most stores there had sport outfits. i dont wear sweatpants even if my life depends on it. i wanted something to eat so i made the brave choice of getting on an escalator. i walked around, got coffee, threw it out cuz it tasted bad. ate starbucks macarons. loved the caramel one. also they got my name wrong on the coffee. even if i wanted to eat i couldnt cuz my stomach hurt again. i settled for boba, which i dropped. it was blueberry tea and cherry boba. i got another combo, cherry tea and green apple boba. it was rly nice. i love bubble tea. 

we left after that. i watched more rose of versailles. when we stopped i got some magnets for my dad and my brother. also i got an oreo tart, which i didnt finish. i watched half of bara no konrei. stopped cuz i almost threw up. but yk what? i returned home safe and the stomachache went away. it was a great trip.

fun fact! im going on a 4 day trip on the 26th!
