pokemon red honest review but it isn't actually a review it's just me rambling

I think I should say that this is not going to be a full-on review but rather a mix between a review and a journal so don’t expect much from me lmao

I think i should also start by saying that this isn’t the first time I play this game, it’s just the first time I actually finish it lmao (only made it past Bill’s cottage the first time)

I picked Bulbasaur as my starter to have the type advantage on Misty’s gym, I didn’t document the beginning of my game so this is lacking that 😭😭 I’ll do better with gen2 I swear

At first I didn’t feel like completing the PokéDex but knowing myself I decided to anyways, and I later figured out I could inject my savefile into Blue and then Yellow to get the exclusive version mons (My original plan was to get a friend to continue playing Blue from a copy of my Red save injected into it but I figured out I could do that myself and then re-inject my Blue save into Red so I ended up doing that) some of you reading this (probably very few people) might be thinking “but yellow doesn’t have exclusive mons!!” AND YOU’RE RIGHT!! I injected my save in Yellow to have a better chance of catching both Kangaskhan and Tauros.. It was a little tricky to do (as my first attempt failed horribly) but I opted to catch these two in Yellow cause they both have a higher spawn rate than Yellow (Kangaskhan’s is 4% in Red/Blue but is 15% in Yellow, while Tauros’s is 4% in Red/Blue but is 10% in Yellow) All I gotta say that this might not be how the games were intended to be played but at least all my mons are legit

Had to take a break for a week from completing my dex cause i was going abroad and my mom didn’t want me from taking my 3DS with me 💔
Reaching Pallet Town from Route 21 made something stir in me idk what but it took me a while to process it it's maybe the thing of "coming full circle" or whatever (saying “whatever” like it didn’t made me stare at the wall for like 10mins before saving the game)
I got through Victory Road a few days later, which means I was going to battle the Elite Four (and caught Mewtwo on my way there) AND I THOUGHT IT WOULD HAVE BEEN HARDER THAN IT HAS BEEN!! My only issue was that THE GAME DOESN’T LET YOU SAVE BEFORE BATTLING THE CHAMPION (aka Blue) I THOUGHT IT WOULD LET ME BUT IT DIDN’T. MY CONSOLE WAS DYING AND THE GAME WAS LIKE “can you battle the champion real quick? 😊” so uhh I thought my console would have died before me being able to beat Blue but the one that perished was me. I lost to Blue and my console died minutes after. I saved before battling Agatha so luckily I didn’t have to battle ALL of the E4 again. On the same day, I finished the game and stared at the wall for ten more minutes, then actually finished my dex the next day (trade evos included, thank you Alex)

Finishing the dex was very anticlimatic imo, cause it’s literally just Oak telling you “ok cool” and you have to go to Celadon to even just get a diploma for it..

At some point in Yellow I tried flying back to Pallet town but Oak wanted to give me the pikachu starter and it locked me in place💔 at least I overcame my verzephobia

^ my babies.. they made it into the hall of fame.. feeling like a mom on the school recital day taking pics at my kids

Completed the dex on April 16!! to be honest it was very anticlimatic but at least I finished it and the gamefreak guys in Celadon gave me a diploma
