Disappointing experience at a local queer party

Just thought I'd quickly rant on here lol, feel free to read if you want

Last weekend, I decided to go to a queer event in the closest city to me. There was an exhibition, stand-up comedy, and then a little afterparty all in the same place. I was excited to go to this event for a little while since it's super rare for any parties or events like this to pop up in my area, especially queer stuff.

The exhibition was cool, there were a bunch of free pins and fake tattoo papers, so you know I had to come back home with a few in hand. The stand-up was pretty good, and it was actually my first time going to see any kind of stand-up comedian in the flesh, which made it super exciting. The crowd was very lively during the entire set, which maybe set my expectations a little too high for the next segment... the afterparty.

I couldn't believe my eyes. Me and my friend were the only people on the dancefloor (besides the DJ lol). The DJ was actually great, they played so many songs I love, but there was literally no one else there with us. We danced for about 30 minutes, and then we couldn't take it anymore, it was time to leave.

Anyway, I guess I need to make an effort next time to convince total strangers to get on the dancefloor and bust a move or two. I'll try.
