DEAR EVAN HANSEN UK TOUR 2025

(I saw the show and wrote this in January; older draft I forgot to post but still want to share!)

Gosh!! I went to see Dear Evan Hansen today for the first time and it was so, so good. Overhated musical oh my goodness.

Being really into Be More Chill for a while, and a big fan of Will Roland's work in general, I already knew how most of the musical went, and knew most of the songs by heart - but I'd never actually seen the whole thing before. I'm so glad I now have!! Aaa

I wore a blue stripy collared shirt to honour Evan. Jeans with stars on them to honour Zoe. And a black jacket for Connor. Honestly was so proud of my fit lol, one of my best works...

Anyhow, was my first time in a theatre in such a long time, so was mega nervous. But staff was so, so nice. I got handed a little card about mental health due to the heavy topics the show discusses, and then went to find my seat. 

I'm a very anxious person but I overheard that the people sat behind me were English teachers and they sounded very kind and non-judgemental, so as silly as it sounds that kind of made the whole experience better for me, lol. I love English teachers thank you for your contribution in society.

I felt so joyful when the first song started. I saw much of my own life in both Evan's and Connor's honestly. Plus their parents are such interesting characters, too, and I knew so little about them by this point.

Honestly I plan on taking some time out of my day and analysing a bunch of DEH lyrics when I get the chance, because the music is so damn good.

The casting was awesome, too. Especially Jared. Jared was played so well and he was so asshole-y and fun. Tom Dickerson also sounds so much like Will Roland?! Top tier casting choice. Connor too. The character's vibes were SO good. Holy shit I loved this Connor so fucking much. Killian Thomas Lefevre, the man you are. I feel the need to mention Cynthia and Heidi's characters too.

I know I just mentioned a few but the entire cast genuinely did such an amazing job. I had tears forming in my eyes twice throughout the thing!! Also shout-out to the one dancer that was wearing a beanie. Don't know who you are but I had my eyes on you every time you were on stage. You were a star to me.

I was trying to act at least somewhat nonchalant hearing all these songs I love and seeing them performed with so much emotion, but upon hearing the first note of Sincerely, Me I got so excited and turned to my mother with a gasp. This song means the world to me and I had the biggest smile on my face the entire time.  

I also got some icecream and chocolate to snack on :)

It was overall such a fun experience and I'm so happy and grateful I got to see the show! <3 :3 It was AMAZING!!
