Fixing up my garden !!

SO,

Yesterday I was able to go to this plant nursery near my house. It's one of my favorite places to be because it's so large and just FULL of plants. I picked up some resuable seed trays. They're made of hard plastic, so they'll last forever! I don't like using plastic products when gardening because it's so easy for little pieces to break off and get into your soil. Microplastics basically. Luckily, these are made of hard plastic and not the cheap shit. They're 2 x 3 cells, and I got 12 of them. That's 72 seed cells!! Cells refer to each little cubicle to start the seed in btw ( in case you didn't know!).

I bought the seed trays to start growing Dahlia seeds indoors. NYC weather is so bipolar, so I start to grow the plants from seed before there is consistent weather temperatures. Now, I should have started them in the seed trays earlier ( and currently I'm technically only growing 6 of them right now because I haven't emptied the packet) because then they'd be a bit more mature by early spring. Dahlia's ideal temperatures are around 60 - 70 degrees fahrenheit, and it's already around 60 ish now. I was just so locked in for school.... my bad. I know they'll germinate soon and it'll work out though!

I also started to fix up my raised garden bed. It's essentially a large metal container that is meant to hold soil and such at an elevation, so you don't have to bend over to care for your plants! It still had some left over dead plants from last season. I had grown mustard plants, microgreens, and green amaranth. I used them for salads all last summer!!! Every season the soil level drops naturally, so I removed the dead plant debris and cleared out any roots. Essentially making the garden bed a blank slate to plant anew. I added some more fresh soil too, although I think it needs a bit more. The plan for the the raised garden bed is to grow herbs and low maintenance crops in perpetuity. I picked up some Rosemary seeds, chamomile, Basil, and I have some Garlic sprouting !! I can't think of any more herbs I need but I know there are more.... ugh my brain. Anyway, yap session over. Thanks for reading if you did <3
