Hii guys!! ☆*: .。. o(≧▽≦)o .。.:*☆
Was thinking I could ramble about some of the visual novels that I like as my first ever blog since I've only seen like maybe one or two other people talking about them on here (which is lowkey a bummer since its one of my favorite game genres).
Warning: Some of these games are 16+ or 18+, so please keep that in mind and respect the creator's wishes ^.^
Content Warnings (may contain spoilers): Screen shaking/Minor jumpscares, Violence/Death (in bad endings), Implied pet/player death (in bad endings), Kidnapping, Mind manipulation, Emotional manipulation
Synopsis: Your pet cat has been missing for a couple of days. They've always had a bad habit of wandering off into the woods near your home, so one day you decide to go out looking for them. You end up going deeper into the woods than expected and a kind stranger finds you before you fall into harm. "...Let's hope he only has good intentions in bringing you home."
What I Love About Mushroom Oasis: First off, I REALLY love the main love interest, Mychael. His character design is peak and the mystery surrounding his lore has me gnawing at the bars of my enclosure and constantly speculating about it with the little morsels of info I'm fed by playing the game and going through the creator's socials. Plus, the inner turmoil that you see him face throughout the story makes him feel so unique as a character. He's incredibly well developed and he's written in such a heart wrenchingly human way. Like, the writing overall is SO good to me. I also really love the art. I could spend hours looking through the backgrounds and character sprites in the game files /srs. It takes about 1-2 hours to play through days 1-3 and there's supposed to be 5-6 days in total when the game is complete, so I HIGHLY recommend it q(≧▽≦q)

Content Warnings: Psychological and verbal abuse, Child abuse, Gaslighting, Self harm, Suicide, Substance use.
Synopsis: Your beloved falls ill with a mysterious life threatening disease, causing you to get closer to them than ever before. Perhaps you were too cruel in trying to break up with them back then. Maybe that's what caused them to be like this. You just need to learn to love them again...
What I Love About Hydrangea: This game is SUCH a great representation of toxic relationships and how difficult they can be to escape and recover from. The way that both the passive and aggressively direct abuse is portrayed is so good and reflects how they occur in real life, as well as the effects it can have on the person/people on the receiving end. The voice acting definitely adds onto this. The amount of RAW emotion the VAs put into their roles shook me to my core. The usage of the Hanahaki disease trope to display its message is SO creative! This game is complete and it took me about an hour or so to finish, so its not a long game at all. Definitely recommend this one as well!! (´▽`ʃ♡ƪ)
Content/Trigger Warnings: Sudden imagery, Blood/Gore, Self-harm, Surreal/Unsettling visuals, Stalking, Scopophobia (fear of being stared at)
Synopsis: Its a regular day and You are heading to your basic, boring gas station job. You see a strange guy on the bus during your work commute and he's...staring at you. You make it to work and see the same guy from the bus is there, introducing himself as John Doe. He then asks you weird questions after your shift ends. This day couldn't get any more bizarre...could it?
What I Love about John Does Plus: I REALLY like the unsettling imagery and sound effects within the game! It really put me on edge my first time playing. John Doe both in design and as a character in both versions is so off-putting and gross in the best way possible! I find John Doe's lore really interesting, especially in John Doe Plus since there's more routes and endings than the original. The way that the remake further explains why he's so infatuated with You made me SO sad and understand him so much better! Since its such a short game, I can't really go into specifics about the things I like about it without spoiling, so you HAVE to trust me _| ̄|○ !! (I might make a full review at some point idk). 1000% recommend this game if you like campy horror visual novels with that uncanny touch⚠⃝𖤐.˳·˖✶𓆩𓁺𓆪✶˖·˳.
And that's it! This is just my top 3 list, but if this entry gets popular enough, I'll either add onto this one or make another entry :P
Thx 4 reading my lil nerd ramble sesh ^.^
