Starting artist spotlight to talk about my favorite artists!
Today I wanna talk abou Katsuya Terada, his style is always in my mind when I'm drawing on my sketchbook, and it reminds me that I need a sketchbook with thicker sheets so I can paint more :(
One of the first works of his that I saw were the concept art pieces for "A Link to The Past" and I think it's also some of his most known pieces.
He has a clear sense of composition and perspective, and it leads your eyes right to the most important parts of the artwork first. He mostly uses water-based markers but also there is a lot of variation on what materials were used to paint each piece.
I think despite the game's limitations, "A Link to The Past" manages to capture the feeling of his artworks really well with both the pixel art and soundtrack!
Today, terada makes a variety of works from imagination and he knows his fundamentals so well that he doesn't even need to sketch to make a full piece! And I think that's awesome.
