Big songs of the week of 2/20/2021

All data taken from the music charts tab of this website

1: Up by Cardi b
All around solid song, though it is very similar in style and writing to a Megan thee Stallion song "if i had a dick...", with a beat that is reminiscent of many of Cardi's older songs, with heavy piano. All around 7/10
2: drivers license by Olivia Rodrigo
A sad breakup song that is more "waah I can't move on" than "what was had was good but destined to fail", or my favorite type, "fuck you". All in all, 4/10. Bearable
3: Astronaut in the Ocean by Masked Wolf'
Your average high energy rap track, with an astounding chorus. Comes from a smaller artist, without the usual body of work needed to avoid being a one hit wonderland, but theyre all similar enough to Astronaut in the Ocean to make lasting success possible. 8/10

4: Anyone by Justin Bieber
A song by Justin Bieber that is a far cry from his modern tracks. Reminds me lots of "Girlfriend". Also earth by Little Dicky too for some reason. The video also makes me crack up because the idea of Justin boxing, let along winning is v funny to me. The song really fails in it's lyrics: "if its not you, its not anyone". It feels really like a guilt trip to try to stop his gf from leaving him. 5/10

5: Levitating by Dua Lipa ft. Dababy (yeah yeah)
A fun, upbeat song that I am surprised is in the 5th spot seeing as it came out in march of 2020. No major gripes. 9/10
6: 34+35 Remix by Ariana Grande ft. Doja cat and Megan thee Stallion
A song about sex, exept this time with 3x the sexy sex sex! sex! WAP but trying to be high class. At least WAP had fun with it. 3/10

7: Best Friend by Saweetie ft. Doja cat
Another fun song,  with a good beat and braindead simple lyrics. My main gripes with it are how it does not stand up well to repeated listens and its (IMO) AWFUL costume design for its video. 5/10
8: You Broke me First by Tate McRae
A breakup song of my favored variety: "fuck youuuuuuu". A nice song that just isnt in my favored genres. Listen to it, but its not for me. No number rating
9: Therefore I Am by Billie Eilish
Kind of a diss track by Billie, it is a fun listen with the expected heavy amount of bass. It is a minor departure in terms of genre, going closer to pop. 8/10
10: Body by Megan Thee Stallion
odyodyodyodyodyodyodyodyodyodyodyodyodyodyodyodyodyodyodyodyodyody
odyodyodyodyODYODYODYODYODYODYODYODYODY
ODYODYODYODYODYODYODYODYODYOD. 7/10

Special mention (freeform reviews)

11: Axel f by Crazy frog
A cover of the song of the same name (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qx2gvHjNhQ0), over the past 10 years it has solidified itself as a classic in terms of elementary school dances worldwide. 10/10
