A crazy thing happened to me at school...

Today, something really random happened at school. I was in the cafeteria, eating while standing because there weren’t many tables available, and my friend was with me, just chatting normally. Then, out of nowhere, her boyfriend and a friend of his walked up to me and said:

— Hey, did you know that Peter likes you? We just found out!

I completely froze. What?! I looked at them, confused, and said:

— What? No, I didn’t know. I think that’s a lie… there’s no way that’s true.

But they kept insisting:

— No, it’s true! He just told us.

My brain stopped working for a second. I never even imagined this because, to be honest, I don’t like Peter. Like, that thought never even crossed my mind! And now, somehow, EVERYONE seemed to know about it before me.

I felt super embarrassed and just wanted to disappear. I quickly finished my food, put my plate away, and ran to the bathroom. I stayed there for a while, trying to calm down because I was way too embarrassed to go out and face him.

When I finally left, I saw a group of boys gathered around my friend… and right there in the middle was Peter. He wasn’t looking at me at all, but he was as red as a tomato.

I walked up slowly, feeling awkward, and signaled to my friend so we could get out of there. She understood and we went outside to the courtyard.

Later, when I went to class, guess who was already there? Yep, Peter. The atmosphere was SO weird. I really wanted to ask if it was true and since when he had liked me, but at the same time, I knew that would just make things even more awkward.

Later on, when I saw those two gossipers again, I couldn’t hold back:

— Dude, you guys were so out of line! Your friend’s secret wasn’t yours to spread. I would never have friends like you.

They just laughed, like it was no big deal. But to me, it wasn’t funny at all. Now, I have no idea how to even look at Peter without remembering this super embarrassing moment.
