Nanobots 12th anniversary! + others

I TOTALLY FORGOT THIS SITE EXISTED. I doubt anyone reads these, but since I made a blog entry for I Like Fun and Flood, I figured I might as well make blog entries for every TMBG album anniversary.

I'm a day late, but happy 12th birthday to TMBG's album Nanobots! I'm under the impression that Nanobots is pretty well-liked within the TMBG fandom. I do like Nanobots, though it's not necessarily my first pick when I'm thinking about what to listen to. HOWEVER, it does have the song The Darlings Of Lumberland, which is one of my all-time favorite TMBG songs. Probably on my top 10. Other Nanobots songs I really like are You're On Fire, Circular Karate Chop, and Stone Cold Coup D'État. Now to address the elephant in the room... Stuff Is Way. In my opinion, if it hadn't gotten super popular on TikTok several years ago, Stuff Is Way would be a rather unremarkable song on Nanobots. I don't dislike it though! Also, Stuff Is Way was performed live for the FIRST TIME EVER this year, on February 27th (which was TMBG's first concert of the year). That's pretty cool!

I missed a couple other album birthdays, so I'll include them here as well.

TMBG's second children's album, Here Come The ABCs, turned 20 on February 15th. Now, as an 18 (and a half) year old college student, I don't think I can give a proper review of this album. It's for little kids. The album isn't bad, though! I believe John and John made their first kids album, No!, because they felt that children deserve good music too. And they definitely delivered. I'm partial to E Eats Everything because it references one of my favorite TMBG songs that I have an odd obsession with and took my username from, Mr. Xcitement. In the video for E Eats Everything, the soda that K drinks is labeled as "Flansy" which is a reference to the Mr. Xcitement lyric "Like Flansy in a soda can it's trooky-trooky-trooky". Alphabet Of Nations is also a pretty good song.

The other album anniversary I missed is... TMBG's third children's album, Here Come The 123s. It turned 17 on February 5th. I wonder if ABCs and 123s both being released in February was intentional? Here Comes Science was released in September, so maybe not. Anyways... again, I am not sure what I can say about this album. It's another album for little kids, which I am not. Like the rest of TMBG's kids albums, Here Come The 123s does deliver on the promise of quality music for children. My favorite song on this album is High Five!, which is sung by TMBG's drummer Marty Beller! It's rare for the backing band to sing, but I wish that wasn't the case because Marty sounds amazing on this song. The other standout song on this album is Figure Eight, because not only is it criminally catchy, but the music video was made by The Brothers Chaps. Yes, the guys that made Homestar Runner animated a music video for a Disney-licensed children's album. Not too surprising since TMBG has been involved with Homestar Runner in the past, but it's still funny to think about. Also, the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme and Hot Dog! are on this album as bonus tracks. I don't care about the show, but it's worth mentioning.

If you read all of that, thanks for taking time to read my ramblings! Even if no one does see this, it's fun just to write these anyways. Phone Power's birthday is in a couple days, so I will be making a blog entry for that, if I remember, at least. Apollo 18 and Then: The Earlier Years also have birthdays this month, and Glean turns a decade old in April. Fun stuff to look forward to! We also have TMBG's 24th album to look forward to, but it will probably come out in the later half of the year because of the tour... I'm super excited, though.

Reminder: Outsource your feelings, limit your training to be task-specific, and assign regret to those accountable.
