Rome trip day 2!!

Hello internet!

This is my second (and sadly also final) blog post of my Rome trip! It surely was an amazing day.

We first went to the Roman Forum (or in Latin: Forum Romanum), which is a large open air museum with ancient Roman ruins, surrounded by (also ancient but restored and functional) government buildings. Some of these buildings were used as housing for priests, churches, government administration, or public services.

Most of the buildings aren’t recognizable anymore and are just pieces of rock on the ground now. But, some pillars are still maintained and still standing which is crazy to think about.

The remains of an old Roman temple.

Secondly, we are headed to the Colosseum which is right next to the Forum Romanum. This is probably the building that has (symbolically) the most blood on it’s walls. This used to be an open-air arena used mosltly for the famous Gladiator fights, but also comedy shows, dance shows and more. It was bigger than I expected. Way bigger. You go up by (very steep) stairs, since the Romans didn’t have elevators. The view from the top is stunning.

The entrance hall(s) of the Colosseum.

the view on the arena (from the first floor. As you can see it goes much higher)

And lastly, I paid the (So I’ve heard) biggest apple store in Europe a visit and even bought a new watch!!!

And that’s it for the day. Thank you for reading this (though short) blog!
