tonight was the official opening night. front of house showed up today, and they had an exhibition set up with them of the stuff from the ap art classes. some of them are real pretty. while the actors did their warm ups, all us crew went to the shop for stretches and something called shenanigans. we got in a big circle and everyone took turns reading a passage from our version of the techie gospel. and then all the people who were involved in an actual show for the first time got on their knees, put their hand on the techie bible and were hit on the head and shoulders with a piece of wood, and a lanyard with our slogan on it was placed over our heads. and thus we were officially initiated into the cult of the techies. it was just the coolest thing. i am never taking this lanyard off. i love it. and then we had our potluck. i brought pickle roll ups. mars really like them. mars brought his famous mac n cheese too. and there were weenies. it was amazing. it was like thanksgiving. and the show was amazing. i sat out in the dark hallway pretty much the whole show, cause i only got one quick change near the end. they sounded great, and everybody loved it. the house was packed. i could hardly move when they all went to the front. today was good.
