REVIEW #12: Volume 2
Content Type: Manga
Media/Franchise: Pandora Hearts
- ooh I absolutely adore how Pandora Hearts brilliantly sets up atmosphere/mood - one moment, everything's fine and dandy, there are flower petals falling around so ethereally, but then BOOM everything starts shaking and blacking out and there's a super scary creature in the next panel. I think it's genius. I can never get enough of the twists and turns in this story
- ALSO AAAHH RAVEN TURNS OUT TO BE GIL 😭💖 I'm so happy to know that Gil turned out to be (relatively) ok after all these years!! I also found it so heartwarming reading about Oz and Gil's story, I admire how deep their care and loyalty for each other goes, and I loved seeing them rekindle their friendship 🥹
- the 10-year-timeskip really baffled me, like that's an insane amount of time between Volume 1 and Volume 2 🫣 I'm eager to know more about the Abyss because it's so mysterious waahh...
- it pains me that Oz is just smiling and sillying his way through most situations as if his life isn't on the line and multiple strange creatures started fighting over him in a "couple of days" 😭 on one hand I find it admirable that he just naturally retains that disposition but at the same time my boy does NOT process trauma very well 💔 I hope to see even a little bit of hope for him because how dare the rest of the world harm this little sunshine
