> we're now in festive days, specifically carnaval, it's a tradition to dress up of your favorite character and go to the street to see the "comparsas", which are those cars that they decorate about different themes. because it's venezuela, there is a pageant contest, and the girl who wins is the carnaval's queen. she sits in a throne with her crown and her dress, and throws candy to the children in costumes. a season full of happiness, candies and water balloon fights.
> sadly, this happiness isn't for everyone; there's lots of people struggling in our country's situation, but as good venezuelans we do as possible to have a little joy in our lives. i tried to have this little joy going to a festival that was here in my city, i wanted to see an 80's merengue singer live, but when we arrived he had already sung, so i got a little pissed off. my parents and i were looking for where to buy drinks, but no one was selling beer. i got to see an 80s merengue group of girls live, that wasn't very shitty.
> standing there, half bored, i started to feel very hypocritical, and i started to see the rest of the people there as hypocrites. we complain that there's no medical supplies on public hospitals; that the electricity goes out almost every day, that we have to wait a whole month to pump water into our tanks and barrels, and we still go to these stupid festivals the government and the mayor realize, using money that would help hospitals and communities in need. we're the fakest people in this whole world.
> i don't know how to feel about this, we go to these kind of stuff to relax and forget about the bad stuff that's going on in our lives, but that's want they want us to do; forget everything that they have done. but it's not like we can do much about it, actually we can't do anything about it. we're nothing compared to them, the least we can do is enjoy ourselves while all of this shitty stuff happens around us, like we've been doing these past 25 years.
> i dream of the day that we can have fun without worrying.
> emil over and out.
