Tucker and Dale VS Evil (2010) is a pinnacle of horror comedy best enjoyed when you don’t know anything about what you’re getting yourself into. This is an optimal party splatter flick, perfect to put on when you’re with friends. The jokes are funny, the characters are lovable, and there’s a brilliant amount of real-world commentary for a movie about killer rednecks. Run don’t walk to Amazon Prime, this movie will be leaving the platform in one week!

🩸🩸🩸SPOILER WARNING🩸🩸🩸

Cabin horror might just be my favorite subgenre. This movie is PACKED with loving references to the slashers that came before and the movie that popularized cabin horror in the first place, The Evil Dead. The opening shots of this movie are a clear homage, as well as the locations and character tropes. It was clear that everyone involved in making this movie truly LOVED horror, and honestly, that is probably my favorite thing to see. Not only this, but the themes of respecting one’s consent, and not judging people based on how they look or where they come from, are so prevalent and treated so well. The characters navigating through their premade prejudices about each other makes for an interesting use of the miscommunication trope, and a movie you can walk away from feeling happy.
