it's probably got something to do with that friendly neighborhood late-twenties, early-thirties burnout and cynicism that has been plaguing me since the day i graduated college, and the years start piling on between my so desperate want to return and the day i laid down and cried because i graduated.
i'm floundering here...lol. i got told i had that "late twenties bitter cynicism and snark" at seventeen. it's been a long decade of dealing with it.
there are things that i recognize, acknowledge, and remember about the first decade of the new millennium. the problematic environment we grew up in wasn't missed.
this place has grown since i last was on here!! nice!! i miss being able to choose when i'm online. catch me or not.
anyway, i just got emulators for psx ans ps2, because i desperately wanted to play fatal frame and the likes and have the feel of my childhood back somewhat. i guess i just miss being able to do things outside of doomscroll the internet for hours on end.
there are things that will be twisted and tangled within my childhood memories forever. i didn't like most of growing up and how lonely and isolated i felt at all times, but boy has the winx club surely resurfaced for me again. i cannot explain the supreme level of irritation that i come back, ~*t w e n t y y e a r s*~ later and there is still no subbed version of the original seasons. i didn't rot my brain on toonami and live through the era of Bad Anime Dubs™ for there to not be a singular subbed version. not even a fansub because the task is so daunting anymore.
guess i'm watching new rurouni kenshin....gotta find the places on that internet sea to sail a certain ship, bc the controversy, but i was enthralled by a certain one of many Short Kings™ to not be all over the reboot. i've had wrinkles smoothed, pores vanished, acne cleared. i miss the OG OST, but that's my only complaint. oh, and the OG had a unique use of color and inverted imagery. goood way to cover the limitations of old school, cel-drawn, early computer-animation. otherwise, i have no complaints. it's done a fairly decent job bringing the manga to live.
