Gaming experience - ZOOM Platform

(Hot-damn, it's been a time since writing a new blog. Welp, time to do a new one)

Games from ZOOM Platform

(Not to be confused with ZOOM)

I've been some interesting old games from 1990s up to late 2000s on certain Abandonware website. Sadly, some of the most interesting ones were behind the paywall and were either 1 - outright bad version/awful port or 2 - it wasn't on Steam. And despite GOG being a thing, hosting DRM-free games, i didn't want another launcher

Then there were some another DRM-free site called ZOOM Platform? I almost thought it was Meta's platform but no, this is apparently something else from a different company.

I browsed through their selection of old-as-heck games, got curious and eventually, I created an account for the games. At least I can download and store them on USB.

I went ahead and bought 3 games to try.

Games presentation

A.I.M. Racing (2007) - A.I.M. Racing is a racing spin-off game from some Ruski game named "A.I.M.: Artificial Intelligence Machine". The game was released only on PC. According to the lore, the races are hosted on planet named 'Polygon-4' and the race machines are actually androids (a creature merged with a machine). That's all it is there. And to be honest, I just wanted to try that racing game cuz it looked awesome. It kinda feels like cheap WipEout clone you'd find in a bargain bin.

TrickStyle (1999) - TrickStyle is, you won't believe it, a racing game that's set in the future of unknown date. It was released on PC and Sega Dreamcast. The game is a mix of Tony Hawk Pro Skater, arcade racing and S P E E D ! Aside from direction buttons, you also got 3 additional buttons: sharp turn, jump-trick and speed-slide. Certainly interesting game-mechanic but kinda annoying to reassign the control buttons. It was developed by Criterion (*the makers of Burnout and RenderWare engine*), the same creators who then went onto make AirBlade. Not sure if their inspiration was directly was this game but probably they wanted something better or some big upgrade. I'd say, give this game a try. (P.S: It is also on Steam, so give it a go if you want to. I suggest reassigning the buttons first)

Actua Soccer 3 + Actua Ice Hockey 2 - What do you expect? They're fairly good soccer/football and ice hockey game released on PlayStation 1 and PC, created by 'Gremlin Interactive'. Try Actua Ice Hockey 2, it's on Steam. Actua Soccer 3 is only on ZOOM Platform (which sucks, but what do I know? There are ways to get it somehow).

Well that's it. I hope you'll find these old games enjoyable or somehow interesting.

The games there are either "Yikes, it's 2007 and we're bleeding money! Let's make a game to keep our game company still in business", weird early 2000s games or something from 1990s. But ngl, they're somehow really interesting? It's worth giving it a shot, since they're those 'weird one of a life-time' games but better by Abandonware sites at first, since ZOOM-platform (like Steam, EA App, GoG etc.) wants you to have an account to your game library :p

And thanks, i wanted to share my recent thoughts on older and/or unknown gaming experience. :)
