“A fine day in burma”
(Please give your criticisms if you have any!)
A diary for the great asian war.
(Soon to be its own thing)
The tanker
July 5th, 2025.
Central Burma.
The 8th month in Burma.
We were stationed in central Burma where ASEAN had decided to assign peacekeeping operations in, when Singapore had been chosen to be the main force in this effort. After of course the escalation in rebel activity almost wiped out the government of Burma.
There had been rumours that a division of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army had crossed the border into Burma after the sudden increase in rebel activity all across the country. Though, our officer’s couldn't confirm this.
However, on this particular day we had a different order. Recently our tank battalion had been put into contact with a heavy rebel force, and had managed to repel them on the flanks of Naypyidaw. We were told to investigate the area and retrieve the tank battalion while we cycled with another unit. I only expected a handful of fighting and resistance still left and just a bunch of wounded.
First thing in the morning, we put on our kit and left our FOB in some jeeps at around 0530. The environment was as dark as what you would see if you walked into a basement with nothing but a flashlight.
Our first sighting that hinted at the battle were some shot up city signs, bullet holes through them that read “Tha Wut Hti 5KM”. A village nearby Naypyidaw.
The time then hit 0630, and we were just about to enter the village of Tha Wut Hti as the sun broke on the Horizon. Suddenly, our jeep came to a screeching halt almost sending me faceplanting towards the front seat as the vehicles in front of us slammed their brakes. The red light of their taillights screaming into our faces.
“Lion 1-1 what the hell is going on up there?”
The radio screeched from the rear of the column wondering why we stopped.
“Uhh… We found something up here”
I kicked my door open and exited my jeep, immediately getting hit by the smell of burning human flesh. A burning Bionix Armored personnel carrier, stuck on a rock as its laid crew dead behind it’s big rear ramp. A rebel soldier under its treads as a platoon of fallen adversaries laid dead, burned from what was identified as tracer rounds fired from the Bionix.
“Well, we have to keep on the move. The rear will deal with this.”
The CO muttered as he slowly walked back to his technical, summoning us back to our vehicles.
I got back into our technical and after about three minutes, was back on the move once again.
What I didn't expect was that the burning Bionix that we first saw, was only the start of what could only be described as the entrance to hell. Once we hit the three kilometre mark on the road to Tha Wut Hti, the presence of an intense battle had already left its mark. Dead bodies and destroyed technicals littered the road as our convoy came to a halt.
The CO advised over the radio to stay vigilant and aware at all times, as I pushed my gun off of safety, telling my fellow squadmates to do the same. I swung my door open and exited my vehicle one again, this time met face to face with a burning Leopard.
Poor bastards didn’t even stand a chance, they had to take off their extra armour Singaporean leopards are usually equipped with as their tanks couldn’t fit in the thick jungle or would weigh too much and sink into the Burmese swamps.
Keeping my rifle at a steady-ready position, my fingers prepared to reach straight for the trigger.
“MEDIC!!” A voice yelled, seeming desperate.
I rushed over.
Private Yee had called for me, on top of a Leopard, its armor seemingly fallen apart. Smoke escaping from every little breech in the hull left behind by rocket propelled grenades. The big steel elephant now looking like nothing but roadside scrap.
The private trying to pry the hatch open with everything he could find, “it’s jammed sarge but I think there’s someone alive in there!”
I climbed up onto the tank, avoiding every little flame still left on its hull. Reaching for my bayonet, I slid it right between the hatch and the turret and started to jam it in. Finally, I got a slither of tank hatch slightly pushed up. Now being able to grip the hatch with my fingers, Private Yee and I immediately tugged on the hatch
“Pull!”
We grunted as we finally forced the hatch open, throwing bits of metal away. Smoke immediately shot out of the hole, clearing after a good ten seconds.
Private Yee immediately dived in, and dragged out a young lieutenant, his skin slowly peeling as he pulled him off his seat. I grabbed his body, almost lifeless. I took off his face mask, giving him a shot of morphine to make his pain somewhat bearable.
I would love to say that he made it out. However, life always takes.
“Its okay Lieutenant, were here.”
He looked at me, and gave me a small smirk.
As he died, he muttered until his last breath.
“Yes, for the loved ones, not so bad.”
“For our freedom not so bad.”
He died in my arms, as I handed his body down the now smoking Leopard. My squad slowly carried his body back to be repatriated.

The image in your entry isn’t properly displaying. Can you fix that?
Hey! It appears the image got taken down, but it was basically a burning Leopard 2 tank.
I'll try to find a replacement but itll probably end up getting taken down again. Thanks for reading though!

Try using an AI-generated image. If the image is one that you made, it’s less likely to get taken down.

You could try using a website like files.catbox.moe to host your files. I’ve used that site in the past for my articles.
