Happy Tooth Fairy Day! Here are some dental tips!Â
The order of oral hygiene (what to use first)🦷:
- Floss- I like to use the individual floss picks because I struggle to use regular floss. My fingers struggle to use the string. It’s encouraged by dentist to use a water flosser instead of the first two options. I don’t have a socket in my bathroom, and it is easier for me use the picks
- Mouthwash- it is better to use mouthwash before you brush your teeth because it has less fluoride than the toothpaste itself. So you are unintentionally washing out the coating of the toothpaste and lessening the protection it gives you.
- Brush Your Teeth- It is recommended that we use an electric toothbrush over a regular one. But if you can’t use an electric toothbrush that is ok. As long as you are brushing more than once a day.
- Use a tongue scraper, the reason you use a tongue scraper is to get rid of the bacteria hiding on your tongue this eliminates the source of bad breathe, cause the reason your breath smells is due to the bacteria that comes to feast on the sugars in your mouth. If you do not have a tongue scraper that’s ok! Just use the bristles of the brush to clean your tongue.
Snacking can be bad for your teeth enamel. With that being said try chewing Xylitol gum after a snack because it protects your teeth from the bacteria that lives off sugar. This is meant to be used in addition to your regular dental routine.
After recovering from any sickness you need to dispose of your toothbrush and replace it with a new one. This is because the bacteria from the illness is still on the toothbrush and can re-infect you. The best way to mitigate this is to get one of those multipacks of toothbrushes so you can just grab a new toothbrush when you are falling ill, that way your main toothbrush doesn’t have to be tossed.
