tips on learning japanese

i will be travelling to japan next summer and i want to be prepared. my goal is learning enough japanese to communicate my needs. i downloaded dualingo and im pretty good at it but i have my doubts that it won't be enough. im a college student and the classes are very hard for me so i don't have much time to study during weekdays. i am really interested in anime but i don't think it will be helpful. unless a supervillian comes and we start fighting lol. anyways im open to any suggestions, thanks :)
