Hey Y’all,
How are you doing? This is my first blog and I have decided to talk about the whole news with Starbucks. Starting next week on March 4th, Starbucks is taking away drinks that are “less popular”. They are mainly taking away Frappuccinos. According to CBS, here is the list of the drinks they are taking away.
Iced Matcha Lemonade
Espresso Frappuccino
Cafe Vinalla Frappuccino
Java Chip Frappuccino(one of my favorites)
White Chocolate Mocha Frappuccino
Chai Crème Frappuccino
Carmel Ribbon Crunch Crème Frappuccino
Double Chocolaty Chip Crème Frappuccino
Chocolate Cookie Crumble Crème Frappuccino
White Chocolate Crème Frappuccino
White Hot Chocolate
Royal English Breakfast Latte
Honey Almondmilk Flat White
According to CBS, the spokesperson for Starbucks said that these drinks were less commonly purchased and were too complex to make. They were also very similar to other more popular drinks.Starbucks said they are responding to trends in customer preferences."As part of our plan to get back to Starbucks, we're simplifying our menu to focus on fewer, more popular items, executed with excellence,” Starbucks also said that these cuts will help reduce wait times and among other things, improve quality and consistency. Cohan also said
"I think about Starbucks and the amount of frustration people have when they're ordering and want to pick something up and it's not ready; there's a lot of confusion," he said. "And Brian Niccol is good at figuring out how to uncomplicate things and speed up operations by getting rid of things that are not working."
According to Cohan, he stated that Starbucks probably did the math to figure out what drinks to eliminate. The price of those drinks were greater than the benefits of eliminating them. Cohan hopes that the wait times are decreased, and that customers will get better service.

While I think decreasing wait times is good, I don’t think the Frappuccinos are less popular. People do order them and they are getting rid of flavors that people love. One of my all time favorites- the Java Chip is being eliminated. I’m sad becuase it’s so good and now, it’s going away. My idea to take action, is to encourage people to order the Frappuccinos that Starbucks is eliminating, starting today and going all the way through to the last day. Hopefully that will show Starbucks that people do order the Frappuccinos, and maybe they will keep some of them they are eliminating. I know it is a long shot but it’s worth a try.
