Life is so weird right now

The other day I was in my European history class (I live in America) and my teacher eventually brought up what has been happening with US government again. She admits that she normally doesn't talk about politics in her classes especially because she's scared of getting any backlash as a university professor which is understandable but she says that lately it's gotten to the point where she needs to talk about it and because we're young people she feels the need to create that space for us. She talked about the effects the Trump administration has already had on the history department and so she's encouraging us to "do our homework" and to prepare as the US falls further into an authoritarian regime.

The reason why I can't stop thinking about that particular day is because right after we had that discussion, class resumed, and we continued the lecture. It is just so strange how life can be an unprecedented time in American history (as many people like to claim) and at the same time still have the same monotonous routine. It's a strange duality and I don't like it. It's sort of like having a paper due and at the same time your life is falling apart because you lost your job, you face eviction, the bills are piling up. I wish I could just drop all my responsibilities right now so I can just focus on getting my life together.

Anyways, this is just a rant to get the thoughts out of my head...
