An aimless ramble on the changing seasons.
The weather's getting warmer in SFV, and winter is coming to an end...what little winter we've had anyways. The Santa Ana winds and lack of moisture last month brought us a terrifying start to the new year. I am, at the very least, beyond grateful that I and my closest friends weren't affected by the fires. I can't imagine, though, how those from the Palisades and Alta Dena are feeling almost two months later.
I have always loved fall and winter. I savor rainy days and I cherish the chill of December, because here in SoCal it's so fleeting. Last winter was the rainiest I'd ever seen, and this winter has been the absolute antithesis. We had a few heavy rainy days earlier this month, but not much else.
It's almost time for another oppressive round of spring and summer. Sun-drenched days, sweltering mornings, runny makeup and toaster-oven cars. Vivid, loud, bright and colorful. It makes me sick. (Just kidding, I'll try and find a way to enjoy it).
LA winter is a procrastinator, always a step behind. Brown leaves still fall even in the ides of December, and come March, winter goes, unfinished.
