I wish so bad that I was a teenager in the 2000s instead of the 2020s everything from back then looks so much more enjoyable, also social media in the form it is now didnt exist back then.
Nowadays, everything's so expensive, companies are evil as hell, the US is in shambles, teen culture is a shell of its former self, everyone (including myself) is always on their phone, fashion among teens is just hoodies and sweatpants for the most part, everything looks grey and dull while the 2000s were popping with colour. I have so many more things to list but i wont cuz they are all similar to what i just said.
Point is, i just feel like im in the wrong decade to be a teen. Thanks for reading if you did

oh i promise the 2000s were an incredible mess as well, just completely and utterly fucked in several ways. but still, i feel a similar way about the 70s, 80s and 90s, even though i know what a complete fuckshow each of those decades were. but you're not completely SOL, now is kind of a really good time to be interested in those eras considering the amount of 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and 2000s revival we're having, and how much easier it is now to be able to study and replicate aspects of those eras than it would've been, like, 15 years ago.
if you're really interested in the 2000s, take the time to study what was going on then so you can romanticize it accurately, and bring aspects of that decade back into your life, like fashion, aesthetics, etc. look at shitty old pre-touchscreen era smartphones, study the denim fashion, look at the cultural context that surrounded britney spears' breakdown, check out the insane beauty standards of the era, watch movies, read books, etc. it's a really interesting era to look back on. the y2k era is really big right now, and that decade is still pretty fresh, you'll have a relatively easy time getting back to it =)
