Game of The Month: Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones

I just wanted to talk a little bit about Fire Emblem, because after about a year or so of just playing the opening and later dropping the game, I couldn't tell you how glad I am to have actually played this game.

I'm only on chapter five, so no spoilers!!

One thing that's hard for me when it comes to playing older games, is that it requires a level of attention that I really have to channel my inner childhood self to get into. I don't have the attention span and self control I used to have at the top of 2024, and as a child (ADHD symptoms aside). But despite the clear thing I have to work on, I am delighted to say that Sacred Stones is such an enticing game. I find muself now focusing on playing that instead of wasting time doomscrolling like I used to. Although, last night, I was fighting for my life trying to make everyone survive the battle where Joshua joins the gang. I always end up getting Garcia killed.. I even once got Ross killed and had to restart!

I have such an elaborate plan, deploying certain fighters to certain areas, those I think fight stronger when placed adjacent to each other, but then it always happens that whenever I send Garcia to fight with Eirika, Gilliam and Lute (with Natasha following behind), Garcia always finds a way to get himself killled. CAN YOU PLEASE JUST SURVIVE. YOU'RE ONE OF MY STRONGEST AXETHROWERS...

Don't even get me started on the fact that Gilliam managed to get himself killed once. Him and Franz, who randomly decided that he wants to forget how to fight.... that made me so angry. Gilliam already slow as hell and NEED TO MOVE MORE SPACES PER TURN. Can't see if he fights stronger next to anyone considering HE CAN NEVER GET CLOSE ENOUGH TO THEM BECAUSE HE CAN ONLY WALK THREE STEPS PER TURN. DON'T CARE HOW HEAVY YOUR ARMOUR IS. HOW LONG YOU BEEN DOING THIS THAT YOU CAN ONLY MOVE FIVE STEPS???

Ahem.

Anyway. I love you Garcia and Franz. You just be making me angry sometimes.

But anyway, this game is actually a 10/10 so far. I lower it down to a 4/10 sometimes when i forget how to properly suspend the game......... but it's okay because it's still really cool.
