Style OBSESSION: Buffy Summers

I need to talk about the 1997 show Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I can’t believe I haven’t watched this show before. It’s actually… my favorite thing ever?? I remember my dad making a joke about something to do with the show a couple years back and when I said I hadn’t seen it even he was surprised. I’ve only gotten through season 1 so far, but I am absolutely obsessed. It’s camp, 90’s, funny at times (corny most of the time), but most importantly, it has a bombshell lead character who slays magical creatures and looks absolutely fabulous while doing it. It’s been quite some time since I’ve been so enamored by a fictional character’s personal style. I also noticed several generational inspirations for today's (or rather, yesterday's) youth fashion which cycled back around for the 2020's: crop tops with minimal cutesy prints and lettuce trims; miniskirts in either black or tan colors; and big, bulky Sabrina Carpenter boots. It’s honestly kinda weird seeing a lettuce trim crop top on screen and knowing it wasn’t ordered from Shein.

Buffy’s hair is always the first thing I notice after starting an episode. Yes, it's different in every single episode! I especially love these examples of absolutely gorgeous updos:

But my favorite hairstyle by far is from the ep “Out of Mind, Out of Sight” (I am booking a hair appointment ASAP for this cut and color):

The outfits obviously deserve their space in the spotlight too. These are some of my favorites from season 1:

I absolutely can’t wait to see what’s in store for me through the rest of the 7 seasons. I AM ALREADY IN LOVE!! If I haven't convinced you to take a look at this show yet, idk what else I could possibly entice you with. Maybe if I tell you it's all a big queer allegory?? I'll just leave you with that...
