getting an ipod to play nicely with modern macs!!!

so my mother got a ton of old apple stuff from her friend and one of them happened to be my now prized ipod!!!

i plugged it into my macbook and it wasnt recognizing it so at some point after digging around for a few days there was an update file that wasnt on apple servers anymore and that version had support for modern macs

i plugged it into my 2006 imac and updated it using the file i downloaded and it worked and said its new version was 3.1.3

then i once again plugged it into my modern mac lo and behold it recognized it

windows also had this problem and it worked after i updated it
