"Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit"

Recently I've read the partly autobiographical novel "Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit" by Jeannette Winterson which is about a girl,Jeannette, groing up in a devout religous enviroment in the 80s(?) and thought to be a misssonary whilst trying navigate life in the light of her being homosexual.

Now I picked this up because I read an excerpt in my english school book and I found the topic and point of view really interesting.

I've finished reading and I don't regret it, but there's is lot to talk about. The chapters are quite long. Personally I like it when you can finish a chapter in one sitting or else the pace of the story gets kind of chaotic. Additionally, there was a lot I didn't understand reading it the first time, for example in the last chapter in between times it switched to some fairy tale(?) about a girl named Winnet.

And now my struggle not necessarily with this specific book but rather with reading, with litracy(if it's the right word ) itself. I love reading and I do want to to comprehend these literary works, but in order to, one has to read those text mutiple times, whitout knowing if it's worth it or if you interpreted it the right way or if you missed something. With all honstey my biggest problem is being way to lazy.

This is probably childish to whine about, but idk I just had get it off my heart. Eventually I want to reread Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit and maybe having written this will motivate me more(and improve my english skills, because I just realised how much I'm struggling with this)
