A few months ago, my friend told me about this concert he had bought tickets for. They were for Mxmtoon, the woman who had blown up for the song 'Prom Dress' in about 2020. I thought she was cool, but I don't tend to listen to indie music. No hate to the genre, it's just not my favorite anymore, not something I actively seek out.
A few days ago, my friend texted me and told me that the tickets were for the next day at 7pm. He thought he would have his car by the time the concert happened, but he didn't. So, he invited me to go with him! He even offered to buy me dinner! I told him I worked that day, that if I hurried then we could, and I did! I ended up going!
Like I said prior, I'm not the biggest fan of Mxmtoon. I don't dislike her at all, it's just not my style, but I do love music in general, and I love live performances even more so! The opener was a woman by the name of Luna Li, who I had never heard of, so I was even more excited to come to see an artist I didn't even know existed! Let me tell you... neither of them disappointed. Luna Li was an amazing and versatile performer. She played the guitar, flute, keyboard, and even the violin live! I was absolutely blown away from it all. Her voice was soft and dreamy, and her fellow band members did an amazing job keeping the atmosphere. She played mainly from her new album, "When A Thought Grows Wings", which was amazing! I gave it a listen afterwards, and... personally, I believe it's better live, but it's still highly recommended. My favorites were Fantasy, I Imagine, and Thats Life. She also played a few songs from her Ep! My all-time favorite was Cloud Castle, she played the violin live and it made me just want to cry like a baby! I love orchestral instruments far too much...
Growing up, I played the viola, I was in my schools Orchestra program and would even write my own orchestral pieces! I want to play again, I have my viola in my closet currently, but I just don't have the time...
In all honesty, I think I enjoyed Luna Li's performance much more than Mxmtoon, she's a very talented individual and her music really touched me! Mxmtoon, though, is an amazing performer as well. Her voice was clear and sweet sounding, and she had so much energy on the stage! She knew how to do crowd work and really knew how to get people moving! Shes also just a very funny person and would often talk and tell silly stories about her music. I loved it a lot, I forgot how much I love concerts.
I want to be in a band again. Seeing the performers inspired me so much I want to do the same to other people. I was in a band once in highschool, but we only performed once live. I was the drummer, but it turned out that after I had moved away, My ex-best friend/bandmate ended up talking bad about me behind my back. It was kind of funny when I found out, because I had thought we were still friends, and I was actually planning on reaching out to her. It's a good thing I didn't, as it turned out she became... Well, not very nice to everyone as soon as I left. ଘ(*. .) Sometimes I wonder how she would react if I did reach out, if I just pretended I didn't know what she had done behind my back, but looking back on it... I realized our friendship was not something I wish to rekindle. Even if she didn't say all of those things about me, I realized I put a lot more into that relationship than I got out. A type of situation where you bend over backwards for someone who wouldn't do the same for you. She would often belittle my own interest and poke fun at them but expect me to enjoy her own as much as she did. She would often send me strange messages too, on how she didn't want to be my friend, and I would have to ignore the message until she deleted it. I would tell her that they hurt me, but I knew she would just be in the middle of an episode and didn't actually mean it. One day, though, she texted it to me again, and I told her that I would stop then. If our friendship was making her unhappy, then I would leave her be. She begged me to stay, which was strange to me, but I kept my foot down and told her that we would take a break. Then, I graduated and moved away. She may hate me because I lied, I told her I wasn't moving until later, but life works in strange ways. I never came back.
I got a bit sidetracked. The performance was amazing, and I wish to go to more concerts in the future! However... I would skip the standing venue next time, as my legs were absolutely dying afterwards. ╯︿╰ I was very happy my friend invited me though, and I'm very happy my friend finally got to see her in concert!
As always, I love you all. I hope you have an amazing day much like I did!
