When I first started making disc rot I would use/sample a lot of synth sounds and strings, but now I just sample many different kinds of music. There isn't a specific way you should approach the sampling just do you.

Vut if you want to make the OG/Old disc rot sound I recommend:
Purity, Zenology and Xpand!2 for the sounds when not sampling for a song. for example i use
Purity: SynthString 1 & 3, Tiny Lead, 80's Pluck 2 and many more
Zenology: Shine Pad
Xpand!2: Soft & Bright Pads, Vocals, Arps and E-Piano's

For drums do whatever you want but if you want to make something like I used to make, use the Stock FL Drumkit called 'Drum (ModeAudio)' and use the ones with attack infront or Plugg Drums but if you want to make the newer sound I recommend Sub's, all kinds of percussion, and drums from the "analogg" part of the MIIICRXWAVE DRUM KIT 5 and similar sounding drums to that.

Use vocal samples, record your own vocals or use a tts for the vocal if you want to. You dont have to use vocals in your Disc Rot song
