Mixed Metals

Mixing Metals: Some People Just Get It

I’ve always admired people who can mix metals effortlessly. You know the ones who make their jewelry look intentional, balanced, and stylish rather than just throwing on whatever was lying around. It’s an art, really, and not everyone can pull it off ( myself included :') ).

When I was younger, I wanted to be a mixed-metal girly so bad. I imagined stacking my silver and gold pieces in a way that looked effortlessly chic, but every time I tried, something just felt and looked… off. The problem? My silver jewelry was all dainty and delicate, while my gold pieces were heavy and chunky. No matter how much I layered, there was never a balance—it just looked mismatched rather than effortlessly styled.

That’s why I have to give major respect to people who can actually make it work. One person who does it insanely well is a girl called Zozo (I came across her on Instagram, and wow). She doesn’t just wear mixed-metal pieces that are already designed with silver and gold together that’s the easy way out. Instead, she layers different sets, sometimes going all in on the mixed look, other times keeping it strictly gold or silver, yet it all flows seamlessly. She has this way of stacking and balancing different textures that just makes sense.

But here's the thing— it's not just her jewelry stack. Her ENTIRE fashion sense is out of this world. Some people just WEAR clothes, but she STYLES them in a way that looks effortless yet completely put together. She is what I like to see: Rich people who just rich right. It's that perfect balance of elegance and individuality that just scratches the right part of the brain

Meanwhile, I’m over here struggling to make my thin silver rings and thick gold bracelets coexist. 😭

So yeah, mixing metals isn’t just about throwing gold and silver together—it’s about balance, weight, and layering with intention. Some people are just born with that eye for detail and I respect that.
