yearning is everything--the pinnacle of human desire. it is so incredibly beautiful to sit and envision everything you so desperately want. all your hopes and dreams weaving together. this is where my many daydreams begin, where a need for something is so strong it consumes one's whole being.
yearning drives you forward, as your wants pervade through each moment of your life, flowing alongside the stream named time, it becomes goals you want to achieve: something you want to take a hold of and say,
"oh, i've done it! i have this at last."
it is a whimsical thing to yearn. for people, love and peace, a fresh start in a new city where jazz bars are right around the corner, a future you've always wanted. but it gets dangerous when you start wanting things that are not meant for you. it is quite the paradox indeed.
see, yearning can be a powerful motivator, but it can also be a key keeping you grounded in a horrible reality--one where you will find yourself endlessly spiraling.
"this is just not realistic."
"i can never attain this."
"my circumstances limit me; life isn't fair."
"why are some people my age able to live this life, yet i am not?"
"why do i have to work for this when others were given it?"
it is unfortunate to say that yearning can lead to comparison, because when you want something so much you'll be constantly searching for it. you're drawn to it and so you will notice at once when others have what you so greatly desire. so then, admiration turns into jealousy and jealousy turns into comparison. you want your perfect vision of the future to be true--it is what you yearn for and so this plants a seed in your mind that what you have now is not enough. don't let this consume you.
it is such a blessing to be able to be grateful and find joy in the little things. sure, your life isn't what you want it to be right now and you may find yourself yearning for better things. things you know will heal you. but please don't forget to take a step back and find beauty in the present. good things that are meant for you will come your way. let time work for you. find the sweet spot between yearning and living--it will do you wonders.

it's so important to find the balance between striving to be a better version of yourself while also appreciating the present and being grateful for how far you're come.

beautifully written. there wouldn’t be any other way to word it. it’s amazing how the human brain dreams so much that they forget to wake up, and when they do, there’s nothing else… it doesn’t help that today’s world is filled with the constant need to hope and yearn for a better future, but the future will be nice if we put the work in while we’re in the present, i believe
this!! we dream and want so much, yet we tend to not want to face the grueling aspects of getting to the end we envision. the beauty of yearning is in what it makes us do because we believe certain things are meant for us, which also thus means that we believe we can obtain it [happy] if that makes any sense at all...
