Animal Crossing Wild World

Recently I managed to pick up a copy of Animal Crossing Wild World from my local used games store.

This isn't my first AC game; I've played countless hours of New Leaf and tried to play New Horizons for a while. Whilst Wild World lacks alot of the customisation and features of later games, I can't help but find it much more charming than New Horizons. I clearly value getting bullied by my neighbours more than making a nice place to live.

The game has the standard fishing, bug catching and fossil hunting, though thanks to starting in winter and Nook refusing to sell me a shovel I'm stuck just fishing to try and pay of my debt. This wouldn't be too bad, only this is clearly where the meme of fish activly avoiding your line comes from. Plus neither the touch-screen nor button controls are that sensative, so when a fish moves a little to the right I have to spend forever adjusting myself. Only for the fish to swim away again.

Besides fishing, I find myself sending the villagers a ton of letters. It isn't something I really did in the other games but everyone in town kept talking about them so I send a few each day. Mostly to Gladys. She is my favourite neighbour (and she doesn't bully me... much). I managed to end up being called 'bunny' by everyone as a nickname, which suits me thanks to my bunny ear hood! I kinda forget my character is actually named 'Crumb♪' lol.

One thing I should mention is that to unlock Shampoodle, and thus hair styles, you need to upgrade Nooks store fully. Something I cannot do, as it requires having someone visit your town. This is something I didn't know about before, and is kinda annoying. It won't stop me playing I just wonder why they thought it would be a good idea to lock this behind a social feature...

Overall Will World is a really enjoyable half-hour-a-day type game. I'm looking forward to being able to catch bugs and finally dig up some fossils, and maybe I'll post an update!
