Pantheon - Netflix TV show

ive recently finished this show called Pantheon on Netflix, and its so underrated. i cant believe more people havent watched this since its such a hidden gem.

its about a girl, Maddie Kim, who lost her dad, until she sees a message from him from her computer. its her dad, but uploaded. this series tackles the whole uploaded intelligence thing in a way i havent seen before. it brings in the philosophical and political aspects to it. like, if i upload myself onto a computer, will that person really be me? yea sure it may talk and think like me, but at the end of the day, i would be dead. that thing is only a copy of me. and how would people react to this? how would the government react to this? what protocols will be set in order to make sure uploaded intelligences are safe from humans and vise versa?

i havent felt empty after watching a show in a while. ive watched arcane and yea, its a spectacular show. but i like shows that feel more realistic. i mean, for us to be in a world where we can upload ourselves onto a computer... yea that doesnt sound realistic either, but the science in the show makes it feel doable. i love arcane's hextech logic, but i dont think i can see that ever existing in real life.

the writing in the show can feel a bit cliche and stereotypical at times, but in the major points, not. at. all. i mean seriously, some things are predictable, but for the most part i was completely blown away. it reminded me of paprika which is a brainfuck of a movie, and this show did the same thing. im going into spoiler territory if i havent already so yea. if u wanna read, highlight.

like what do you mean in order to advance the UI technology, they made a clone of the guy who created it? and then his previous lover raised the guy? hello? and the main character... she becomes a teen mom? i could definitely see that coming, but thats insane hello? tbh, i binged everything so im having a hard time processing everything. oh yea, and the last two episodes. i got really confused, but knowing how it ended, i cant look at it the same during rewatch. i didnt think it would end that way since episode 7 felt like a good ending, but it makes sense.

the writers of the show are definitely sci-fi nerds. theres references all around. neon genesis, ghost in the shell, maybe even serial lain. all shows i love too. i used to be a romance guy (which... this show has...) but i think scifi might be my new favorite genre after watching this. although, im kinda worried since how many things can you really do with sci-fi? anyways, this show creatively uses the scifi storyline and uses it as more of a base... and not the goal if that makes sense. i havent watched enough of the genre for an actual opinion but let me try to explain it:

i feel like this show focuses more on the technology's effects, especially on the people affected. there are goals in this... like there's a villain and everything. but for the most part, the storyline is loose and could go anywhere. i feel like its more accurately described as a drama... which i realize it is mainly listed as one. dammit! but yea just proves my point. the technology is a sidequest, the main quest is finding people, sacrifice, love, etc. its just super cool! watch it dammit!

I’m so glad you’re giving it a shot! Yea, I might’ve made a mistake with the explanation, but I’m happy you’re watching it ️. I watched the first episode of Pluto just now, and it’s so good! The segment with North No. 2 was so sad, thank you so much, I’ll be finishing this series :)
