thoughts on "The Four Horsemen" series by Laura Thalassa

So, I've been reading The Four Horsemen, and I just finished the 3rd of the four books, and omg I'm loving it.

The series is about the four horsemen (obviously) of the apocalypse when they come to Earth to end humanity. Each book is about each horseman as they play their part in killing off humanity in the following order: Pestilence, War, Famine, Death. However, these books are romantasy so of course, each horseman falls in love. Each book tells a different story (different horseman, different year of the apocalypse, different female love interest). Each of the horsemen keep their love interest around for a different reason, too. Pestilence takes his love interest captive because she tried to off him, War believes his love interest was his wife sent by God, Famine was once saved by his love interest in the past, and I'm not sure about Death yet as I haven't read the book yet (I'm starting it tonight!)

While I suppose you could read them as standalones, it makes way more sense when you read the books in order. For example, the first book takes place 5 years after the arrival of the horsemen, the next 13 years after the arrival, the third 23 years, and the fourth 26 years, and there is mention of previous events in the books.

My general thoughts on these books so far is ohmygosh. I love them. They are incredibly well-written, the female love interests are strong willed with an actual personality, and the horsemen are so loveable once you get past their cold, evil exterior. Personally, if I had to choose one, I'd choose War, but I still love Famine and Pestilence.  My favourite couple so far is definitely Famine and Ana, though. Ana is so sassy and honestly a total diva and I love it, and her interactions with Famine have me swooning and cackling.

I've kept this spoiler free because I wouldn't want to spoil the experience for anyone who are thinking of reading this and want the full experience of "holy moly!", "didn't see that one coming," or "oh my gosh, did that really just happen?". If anyone reads this and would  want a version of my thoughts on the series so far with spoilers, I'd be more than happy to write it. Like I said, I'm starting the fourth and final book, Death (ugh I'll be so sad to finish this series, I can't stop thinking about it), tonight and will post an update when I finish reading it.
