Hello everypony I noticed that there wasn't really a recent blog on therians so here I am to hopefully be of help ^^ this probably won't be the best but I'm trying so feel free to explain more stuff in comments or make a blog I suppose
First a therian is an identity you are identifying as a non human animal on a certain level except biologically !! A THERIAN IS NOT attractive to animal that is completely different
A therian can have a unique perception of their identity so not every therian is the same also being a therian is kinda rare like one percent if the population is I believe also age does not restrict you to being a therian so yes adults can be therians
I knew I was a therian about a year or more
I am also a furry this is different because a furry is just a hobby NOT an identity furrys just play dress up and enjoy anthro animals furry don't need fursuits either
Therians often wear gear that includes and not limited to tails, masks, and a therian symbol gear is not required to be a therian it is just used to express yourself
Therians also can do quadrobics but don't have to in order to be a therian quadrobics or quads are an exercise of running and jumps on all fours non therians also do this
A therian can really be any creature even if it is extinct also you can be multiple animals or a whole species of animals like all canines these have specific names so feel free to research on your own if you feel like this could be you
I can't really help decide if you are a therian or not it is up to you it's your identity so do some research if your wrong it's totally ok your journey to find your identity is personal to you don't let others decide what you can and can't do (within reason I guess) be kind to yourself and others ^^ pls don't be rude even if you don't understand be respectful that's all I can ask <3

wait... if its just an identity, why cant you choose to be a therian like people say? i have shifts and apparently that doesn't make you a therian? people can choose what they identify as, no?
Not really a choice because you can choose to label yourself as a therian but you have involuntary acts of a non human animal and you know it feels wrong to identify as being human it's kinda like being trans as a trans being I didn't choose to be trans but it felt wrong being the gender I was born as ^^ I hope that kinda made sense thanks for asking :3

This isn't entirely on topic, but I've found that I'm fine with identifying as human, as I very much am, but I feel more as though my soul is fractured into my theriotypes. I label myself as a therian mostly because of phantom shifts, and god would it feel right to just shapeshift into certain animals, but I am still very much a human and I identify as one, alongside being a therian
It's an interesting experience honestly
