Light Yagami
light is like the most gay coded character i've seen in a while. like his whole narrative can be read as queer. like oh ok you're hiding your business and keeping it a secret at all costs to the point of BLOWING YOUR DIARY UP? the way that you pretend to be normal is to get girlfriends and read pornmags while never caring about them? The only thing you truly care about is how one man thinks about him? the only ally you you truly trusted was a man who is a jacked version of said man?
so like to me, there's no doubt that he is gay.
i also think he's aromantic. he definitely feels sexual attraction imo, and i think he has some kind of. very weird attraction/repulsion to L that is not romantic but not not romantic. yotsuba arc light probably had a fairly romantic crush on him tho. still weird
as for gender headcanon, i'd probably say he's cis, for the most part, and very very very very very deeply repressed transfem. i want to give him estrogen. i don't think it'd make him kill people less but he'd at least be a girl #awesome
the transmasc light hc is also something that i can appreciate, just cuz of the thing with his name being read as tsuki which is a typically feminine name (at least that's what i gathered from a google search LOL :3) but its not something i subscribe to ^_^

ok ok. so to me theres no doubt L is bisexual. maybe pan, but he is definitely just attracted to anyone no matter their gender. he likes hot girls and boys that get on his nerves. i think he was attracted to misa, and i think he was attracted to light. the attraction was not at the top of his mind tho, i think he's pretty ambivalent to his sexuality ... but i think he is a bit of a perv too
i think hes aromantic also, or at least greyromantic.
genderwise, i think he's agender. i don't think he really cares what pronouns anyone uses for him, or how he's percieved genderwise, and if you asked he'd probably just say 'yeah im a man.' but then he'd think for a moment and add 'but it doesnt really matter to me what you call me. i have no strong relationship to any one gender.' but ya that is my opinion ^-^
Misa Amane
ok so i think she's bi, but she never really got the chance to think about it so she always just assumed she was straight and also thought girls were really pretty and wouldn't mind going on dates with them either. she just never viewed it as an option, and that didn't become tragic until rem. cuz rem is TOTALLY her type but she just came along with kira and she has that unhealthy attachment to him.
i also think if light/kira had ended up being a woman she would've had the same reaction (if she were around the same age as light)
genderwise, i think realistically shes just a cis girl, but i think given the opportunity she'd have some fun with some pronouns and xenogenders
Ryuk
in human terms, i'd probably just say hes aroace. i dont see him ever feeling any attraction, ik he expresses awkwardness around women, but i think thats just a joke and also possibly from unknown backstory stuff- it doesn't feel like a flusteredcuzimattractedtoher thing.
i also don't think his gender is too important, and i mean, i was about to say thats probably just a shinigami thing, but i recall a conversation when they kept talking about if someone was a boy or a girl and they seem to have a grasp on human gender and sex so maybe it is just a ryuk thing. i dont think he cares about it, but hes just a silly guy
Rem
i think that rem is demiromantic and lesbian. she only ever got the chance to fall in love with misa, but i just have a feeling in my gut that she could also like other women. as for her sexuality, i'm not sure... idk i have her down as asexual but i don't think she'd mind having sex with misa particularly (if shinigami COULD) but yeah idk...
for gender, i think it's similar to ryuk except i think the longer she spends on earth, the more she feels connected to the gender of woman. cis or trans? idk ur choice. i dont know if you can be cis or trans with shinigami. did they used to be real people? im not clear on this
Near/Nate River
i think he's aroace, idk i don't really see him having any attraction or urge to do anything with anyone. i could potentially see him getting close to people and expression affection that may go beyond what's "normal" for platonic relationships, like i think if mello let him i think he'd get close with him and would probably be really clingy but not in any way that is romantic or sexual.
as for gender, i think the same as L, but even more in touch with his nonbinary-ness. i think he's agender and as he grows older he leans towards more fem language and presentation. i think that he'd be cool with any pronouns.
Mello or Mihael Keehl
i think he's gay. yeah its mostly just vibes. as a gay guy i can say this ok that blonde boy is gay. i could see him being demiromantic or greyromantic, i don't think romance is particularly important to him but in terms of sexuality i think he's def for the boys.
in terms of gender, i think he's some sort of genderqueer. i think growing up with near and L kind of does that to you. i dont think he really gives a fuck about his gender one way or another.

MY BOYYYYY ok. i originally thought of him as gay, but now im like... eeehh.... i think if light was a woman he would've had the same reaction. i think he's pan, in this case, though he wouldn't label himself as such. just because i don't think gender is particularly important to him and because i think at least romantic or non-sexual attraction does not happen to him very often if ever Except with light i think. in terms of sexuality, i could see him having a preference for men but not minding women either. idk why im just following my nose Heh

i think shes just cis and straight. im sorry her likes and dislikes in the volume 13 are "likes: smart men dislikes: stupid women" i just. idk i'm sorry guys i cant really bring myself to ship her with misa or anything like that i mean its fine i just don't see it personally. she's just lowkey too misogynistic, and misa hates her. if she ever got with misa it would be like hate sex or smth like that.
yeah yknow i think i could maybe see her having sex with women on very specific instances but i think largely she would consider herself straight and i would not argue

i think she's a trans girl. just because. shes awesome and trans girls are awesome? ii have no basis for my claim but i am correct. in terms of sexuality, i think she's probably bi with a preference for men. i also think she's a freak and is awesme and cool....

i think B is bisexual and genderfluid. he doesn't really have a concept of gender outside of whoever he is imitating at that moment (am i basing this off of a meme i saw ? Yes. no im not sorry i dont careee)
also not really related but necessary to me, while he says he has never once been submissive. lie. i think he's a sub bottom but anyway
